Hey hows the cortina dhe-8 for racing? Think im gonna uy one and want to know if it's the right kind of bike for me. I want to be pretty much racing, not too much hucking.

High BB, short on the top tube. The geometry isn't to my liking. The suspension is pretty active under braking though.

The bike excels on fast open courses. It does have an odd geometry so try to ride one in order to make sure it fits you right. It has very long chainstays so manualing or tight courses are not its forte. The seat tower is adjustable. At the slackest position I measured a TT length of 23.5". Also, with a shiver it had a BB height of 15" and a HT angle of 65.5 degrees.

The suspension is very progressive. The first third of the travel is really soft and then ramps up quickly after that.

I had no issues with the bike for the two years I owned it and the Cortina family is great to deal with.

Build quality is good. You don't hear much about Cortina's cracking etc...

I dunno if it has much to do with how our SB trails our but I'm guessing and taking a stab that the frame was built around it. That's a guess though...

I'd look into their new trition DH alum. frame. 100mm BB, 160 spacing rear, 1.5 headtube, all easton alum. Seems like a sweet ride. The DH-8 has been around for a while with revisions to it but it seems they are trying to push and go with the Triton frames.

I ain't heard nothin' bad about that bike. I have a buddy riding one, and he's fast as all hell on that thing. I'd say go for it.

I've seen those frames around and test ridden some. First off they're harder than hell to find, so grab one if you have the opportunity. They do have a high BB height, and that makes them really good for rockgardens, but the likage on it is very progressive so you can run a lot of sag to bring it down. The linkage on it makes it very laterally stiff in the rear and gives it a really vertical axle path since it's a parallel linkage. That also means the caliper mount moves up and down with it so it elimanates brake jack without a floater. If you get a size small then it does have a really short top tube, but the size large with the different seatstay is plenty long and comfortable. The Cortina brothers race those frames, and they are both extremely fast racers. AVY also used to be teamed up with them and Sam Hill used to ride one for their team I believe and it took him to the podium - don't remember which race.
