Wonderin the weight on two things...

1. Marz Shiver SC

2. Brodie Holeshot frame

And any comments you guys have of either :)

PS - will thoe Holeshot take a 26" rear wheel or is the rear triangle 24" only?

This is pure conjecture, but since I don't think anybody else on this board rides a Brodie, I'll chime in: on the Devo, which is supposed to have a 24", a 26" fits with no problems whatsoever. I ran one for a long time.

I would tend to assume, from that, that Brodie makes all of their 24" bikes with enough clearance for a 26."

Don't bet the farm on it though....:)

weight-wise, have you tried brodiebikes.com?

Thanks :thumb:

I am headed to the LBS after work today, but I'm impatient :D

brodiebikes.com doesn't say too much.. couldn't find weights there. I wish Marz would put weights on their site too! Oh well, no biggie.

The bike would be used for trail riding.. which is why I want the 26" rear.. it wouldn't see much urban freeride, since if I'm riding downtown I'd take my stock trials. I don't know much about the 26/24 deal though, I'm pretty new to that :)

the thing is, if it's designed around a 24" rear, you won't have the normal 24" rear characteristics when you run one. The BB will be a normal height, instead of an inch lower than its supposed to be, the head angle will be normal angle, instead of one degree slacker than it's supposed to be, the standover will be normal, instead of one inch lower.

If you put a 26" in the back, you'll have the problems that I had with the brodie: BB will be higher than it's supposed to be, head angle will be steeper than it's supposed to be, standover will be higher.

You only get that funky 24" stuff if you put one on a bike designed for a 26". I've had no weirdness since I went back to the 24" on my Devo.

The point being that it's not gonna be wierd on the trail with a 24" out back. The only things you'll notice are that it'll be geared down a little b/c of the smaller wheel, and it'll hit harder on rocks and stuff; it can't roll over that stuff as easily.

Thanks for the info! With that in mind, I *might* benefit in some ways putting the 26" on, if it's designed for a 24". Reason being, the stuff I ride is gonna be lower speed & pretty technical most of the time.. maybe the steep head/high BB will be nice - at least to try out.

Thanks!
