I have no idea where I am
Went for a hike today. Etiquette for biking has been to just give everyone a wide berth when passing. 95% of the hikers were actively wearing masks, while hiking. I was one of the assholes who didn't, but I always stepped aside and gave everyone at least the 6' they were due.

Now on the way home I saw a parking lot jam packed with people getting ready to drop tubes into the river. Not a single mask and no distancing. Some pretty strong social classification there.
Where I hike it’s the opposite. I’m the only hiker who wears a mask or moves off trail. I’ve given up on being polite. When I encounter oncoming traffic I issue commands with my bouncer voice. It is exceedingly rare to encounter anyone who seems even remotely aware of the pandemic.

There is a lack of understanding and common sense on both ends of the spectrum. I see people working in their backyards alone wearing masks. Kind of silly, but at least they aren't putting others at risk.

That's not courage. It's the beginning manifestations of fear. Dr frankenstein is scared of getting his arms ripped off by the monster he created. They only make money when there's a lower class supporting them. That goes away if they're all dead or too busy dumpster diving to eat.
:stupid:

It's the same reason I giggle wildly at every George Will/Conway/Lincoln project/conservative "thinker" op Ed. It's your monster, you created it. You don't obfuscate that easy, you bunch of fucking assholes. This hippie remembers.

Squirming-shmirming. This is someone who is without a care for anyone but himself. Remember - it's a German Lender having procured his Tax Filings pre- 'Coffee Boi' and biggest cash-injection to Trump pre-presidency.
All these 'raw' TV moments are just that - made-for-TV PR. Always a sit w/ FOX.
Bolton's Book is likely the real-deal. This recent book by a Niece is hogwash though. She's just another 'stable genius' doing the Family's bidding during the Election. So raw.

Trump's last bastion is TRUMPF, HQ'd for the US just a couple miles from my family home in CT. This is Trump Family just a different lineage and, operates as such over generations. Just up the road is a nice place for 'Cognitive Tests' - Wheeler Clinic. Just a thought...

Upon NY Attorneys building case for Tax Fraud, it'll be a paradigm-shift of the stock market. In other words - market freefall. ...like a Virus...

This - this is 'tuff on China' though depending who's narrating the same tough-guy who had filed suit in NY on behalf of his Chinese debt-purchasers of a decades long battle of NY Real Estate Development. He's anything BUT tough on China - he's tough on what's 'tough' on China, which in the end becomes a working model for Palaces, High Rises... Ski Resorts in Vermont...

Piggy.
Piggy.
Piggy.

He's a Hoax.
He's the 'rigged system'

He's too much of a Bum to be made as a government Mole, he'll just continue corruption of our own out of spite.

Really looking forward to Bob Mueller's upcoming Testimony to Congress. That'll be anything but Tender.

Trump is correct in his assertion that someday Covid will disappear. Eventually as the sun transitions into a red giant all life in earth will be extinguished.

Made the weekly grocery run and was shocked at the number of people still not wearing masks or adhering to social distance guidelines despite the signs. Most of the mask-less rednecks were less than 35, covered in shitty tattoos and one couple thought it would be a great idea to bring the baby. Yeah...

Unless the situation is different in other parts of the country, we're going to have to deal with this virus for a long time.

Loreto is a place of interest. Graph represents deaths (all causes) vs average deaths before covid.

Its capital, iquitos has a Population of 400k people in the middle of the jungle, accesible only by river or aircrafts. No roads connect the city to the rest of the country.

Deaths above "normal" were at peak in may, as it was probably among the hardest hit cities in the country, with a death rate about 40% higher than normal

A recent study made by a medical school and the panam health org found 71% of people seropositive, with 22% having an active infection.
The sample was 761 people, taken between july 13-18th, over a representative demographic to find out infections levels across the city.
Infection rates for under 20yo were above 76%.

Current death rates for the city show no noticeable increase vs pre-covid weeks.
It appears herd inmunity (however temporary?) Can be achieved.

if they're not testing for antibodies, then you can't make any statements about herd immunity

a study in spain with a sample size about 2 magnitudes of order larger had less than 5% of the test subjects showing antibodies

One of our two friends who was sick way back in March at the same time my kid was sick just texted. We were fairly certain they all had the 'Rona before it was cool, they had all or most of the recognized symptoms and we're all super sick for quite a while. Long story short, she and her wife both got sick over the weekend, both tested positive for coronavirus today. So either she has had it twice, or what everyone had this spring wasn't coronavirus.

Yes, the tests were for antibodies. Seropositive = positive for antibodies.
The paper is in spanish, though, maybe my translation wasnt correct.

IgG antibodies: 71% of sample
igM antibodies: 22% of sample

@Pesqueeb I know like two dozen people who swore they had Big Rona back in March, zero have had antibodies detected by the finger poke. The ‘rone was around back then, but it was exceedingly rare, my guess is that your friend and her wife were just good old fashioned sick, not 5G Democratic operative sick.

What, if any, covid precautions were implemented in Loreto?

how soon after the infection / diagnosis were they tested? the study from spain i referenced (~61k participants, <5% seropositivity) was conducted with samples taken from the end of April to about mid May, at which point the number of new daily cases was already on the decline (interpreting this as after the worst of the outbreak in that region based, as # of recovered cases surpassed active cases as well), and based on the info 'woo posted, it's possible by the time they were tested for seroconversion that they had already lost a detectable amount of antibodies.
