Well, Covid 19 IS its own kind of ‘invisible hand’.Nice work, asshole.
I've been thinking about this quite a bit... why haven't we simply allowed the free market to take care of this issue? Perhaps Brian has some insight?

Well, minus most of the drama/panic due to modern communication. When smallpox showed up in town, you hunkered down in the house and watched pretty much everyone die. This was day to day life in prior centuries...
Good ole times!Well, minus most of the drama/panic due to modern communication. When smallpox showed up in town, you hunkered down in the house and watched pretty much everyone die.

Global aviation is shutting down because of the coronavirus outbreak and travel restrictions designed to contain it, and many airlines will need government bailouts within weeks or face bankruptcy.www.cnn.com

We should just shut I-70 west of the Morrison exit apart from for King Soopers trucks.Denver is banning in person dining at bars and restaurants through May 11. This starts Tuesday at 8 am.
(They’ll all go to Golden instead. You’re welcome!)

Never, EVER, hold onto an airline stock.
Then proceeded to die in your house...Well, minus most of the drama/panic due to modern communication. When smallpox showed up in town, you hunkered down in the house and watched pretty much everyone die.
Well that wouldn't be very "free market" now, would it? Perhaps @Brian HCM#1 could shed some light on this for us?Most airlines could be bankrupt by May. Governments will have to help

Really harsh, but in light of developments everywhere else in Europe probably a good move this early on.They've cordoned off an area with several villages and small towns near my home town in the dirty part of Yurp. Complete blockade includes military patrolling the area and checkpoints. Holy isht.

Let 'em collapse. The monopolies should have been broken up the last 3 times they went bankrupt. There used to be dozens of regional airlines in the US. Now there are what - 6 national carriers?Socialism for the rich, free market for the poor!
The whole country has been quarantined here, for 15 days. Plus all international and most inter-city travel has been effectively banned. They've cordoned off an area with several villages and small towns near my home town in the dirty part of Yurp. Complete blockade includes military patrolling the area and checkpoints. Holy isht.

Applejack is still operating on non-restricted hours. And the GF's sister said liquor stores and dispensaries are being considered "essential" in Gunnison county, at least....I don't believe liquor stores here will meet the "essential" standard...
Almost as if deregulating the airline industry might have been a bad idea.........Let 'em collapse. The monopolies should have been broken up the last 3 times they went bankrupt. There used to be dozens of regional airlines in the US. Now there are what - 6 national carriers?
All those airline pilots that tell everyone they need to get jobs and stop being lazy will need to pull themselves up by their bootstraps. I heard supermarkets are hiring extra people for cleaning right now.Too late!
Never, EVER, hold onto an airline stock.
