I overshot a big step down and landed on the flat, causing this to happen to my 2004 Rocky Mountain Switch Pro. How serious is this damage, and what should I do? Please help, I am planning on going to Mammoth soon!

im guessing the warranty isnt still in place. but if it is, see if it covers cracked frames. a frame will never be as strong as it was, so you may want to consider getting a new frame.

even if it just starts like a cm long, and you continue to ride hard, it could destroy the frame.

Thanks guys, but the warranty explicitly says that "stunt" riding is not covered.

try and get crash replacement, most companies do this, you basically get new front triangle at cost

That doesn't sound like a stunt, I heard you were just riding through a rock garden like the ones showed in the adds and it cracked. Also I don't remember there being a warning not to ride on rough terrain, so leagaly you're entittled to the warrenty.

I would be looking for other damage as well.Is the shock mount bolt still straight?For it to crack there(the weld)it looks like those frame members that the shock mounts to would have to have flexed towards each other.The other thing that might have been the real cause was stress within the weld.Either way I see it as poor design and or workmanship.A frame member did not fail the weld did.Will it get worse?Make sure there is'nt something else wrong first.
