Sooooo.

Before a race this weekend I was examining my bike. I notice a small CRACK in the side wall of the tire, about 1 cm long and some of the tube is showing, its being held together buy some of the rubber threads or whatever in the tire. The tire ios a Maxxis swamp thing 2.35". I was wondering, since I am poor if there is any way to fix this so its ridable for DH, Ill be riding the EastCoast where its real muddy, rocky and rooty, is there any rubber patching I can get to solve this? Any ideas would be great.

Thanks, Dan

To the best of my knowledge, any type of patching will be very temporary. If you found this crack half way through a 50 mile ride and needed to get home, I'd say go for the traditional method of sticking something very stiff/non-stretch between the tire and the tube (like a folded up dollar bill), then ride it gently. As for your situation, don't risk it. Buy a new tire, because it's better to shell out the cash for a new tire than to risk hurting yourself on a high-speed blowout that you could have avoided.

at the end of the longest line
it may be a defect, i know my shop received a big batch of split tires, some which were sold and not immediatly noticed. I would go to the shop and have it checked out; my shop knew how to identify the defects

You can put a folded up piece of duct tape inside the sidewall, between the tube and the hole in the sidewall. That should hold up pretty well.
