So a dude here at work asked me to look at his GF's machine. XP home.

The main login has just about no security privileges and I can't uninstall anything or do any other system maintenance type things. They don't know the Administrator password.

Any way to reset it? (I should know this one....) :nerd:

Did you try just hitting "enter" at the admin password prompt? XP home defaults to no administrator password.

Ok...total WTF on this one.

I did try to hit "enter", it tells me there is a "restriction" on that account.

So I booted to Safe mode and I was able to go into Administrator, no prob. No password.

I need to boot to regular mode to do updates and install Windows Defender, etc though. I can't find where the fvck this "Restriction" is placed. I thought there should be NO restrictions placed on Administrator??

Seems like it's a spyware or virus trick trying to cockblock the system.

Change the privileges of the other account. Try it that way.
