ok, got the crankarm problem fixed, but now i cant shift in the front. i extended the deraillleur as far as it would go and it wouldn't shift onto the third sprocket, do i need a new derailleur or is it just an adjustmnt, i tried moving the derailleur, tightening the cable, loosening the cable, and moved the two screws to every position, but no luck

why the hell do YOU care?!
Yeah, that's exactly what I discovered a couple days ago.
You can get the info from the manufacturer of the crankset that indicates the range of spindle size that they recommend. If you have a longer spindle than recommended for that crankset, there's no way the derailleur's gonna be able to go out that far.
Fortunately, BBs aren't that expensive at all and a good shop should be able to replace that and get it all working smoothly for you in about a half hour.
