hey i purchased a set of fsa xdrive 3piece cranks and i tried to install them. I started putting on the drive side cup in and like about half way it wont go in anymore, so i put more grease on adn all and it still wont screw in any further, i examined the grooves and all and they look fine.

Is there any way i can get it to go in help me out please.

The cups have a little loctite on them, so that may bind it up.

You may want to consider having your frame's BB threads chased, just to make sure everything's on the up-and-up, before you apply too much muscle to the cup.

Make sure you're not crossthreaded, if your threads are chased and clear, just put more muscle on it. You generally can't get a BB cup threaded all the way in without putting a tool on it...

that's when you take it to a bike shop and they run a tap thru the threads in your BB shell to make sure that the threads are deep enough, clean, not stripped out, not fouled with paint, etc. It's a good idea, not always necessary tho...

Is there anything else in the bb shell that is blocking the cup? A buddy of mine called me over to his house late one night last year because he couldn't get his new Race Face isis bb into his new Specialized frame. Bottom bracket cable guide screw was slightly long and the bb was running into it. Backed out the screw and in she went by hand. That's another possibility. Sometimes the threads are just not cut in well or there is welding spatter or some other reason. See if you can figure out why its not going in because it might be simple. And it might need to be chased out too.
