waterproof copies of the map will be handed out at check-in. trust me even with a map, the course will still be a challenge; since none of the trails are signed.

the course is just under 50 miles with about 7,200 ft of climbing

the check points ( Dam & Doyle Bottom) will have Waters and Cold ones available, some snacks as well. Also we will be doing bag drops for the check point so bring what you want bagged and labeled.... and we'll have it at the checkpoints for you (note there are two checkpoints)

the Ride Starts at 9:00AM sharp so be there early to check-in. Check-in is at the main lot at Dam Rd. and Old Six Mile rd. DIRECTIONS HERE

Again you must RSVP Rick ( before Oct 31st ) if you plan to join us for the fun.

Items required for this Ride:
  • Cell Phone (yes you will have coverage
  • first aid kit
  • spare tube
  • compass - gps works too
  • 1 canned food donation (no you don't have to carry during ride)

More info about the event

The CranksGiving Charity Chase (C3) is a 50 Mile “unofficial group ride” with a cause.
Sunday November 2nd (why Sunday? so we don't get shot by hunters!)
There is no “fee” to ride. We are asking for a $20 donation, but will take whatever you can spare (the money will be used for trails – obviously)
+1 or more Canned Food that we will donate to the Local Food Bank

The goal is threefold:

* Raise money / awareness for UpstateSORBA and Issaqueena ( money is going to trail work and trail signs )
* Provide non-local riders with complete tour of the Issaqueena trail system
* Provide some canned food donations to local food bank on the behalf of UpstateSORBA
* Have a good time

The format of the ride will be similar to that of “Hashing” or "Hash Run"

* There will be multiple “Hares”, who will leave out early marking the route, and “The Hounds” follow the marked route.
* The route will not be posted, or provided to the group, only the Hares will know.
* The Hares will clearly mark the route (as they see fit)
* Starting at the Horse Shoe Parking Area on Old Six Mile Rd. and the Dam Rd.
*
The group will begin at 9am, and the chase will begin.
o The group can decide to split up, or stay together
o Experienced Issaqueena rider(s) will be in the group, though they will not know the route
o The Hares will “direct” the group to the first checkpoint –location shown on map
*The hares will switch out at the checkpoint, and the previous hare will re-join the group
*The Checkpoints will have food / water / challenges / helpers / good advice and strong opinions
o Checkpoint #1 will occur within the first 25 miles –Base of the dam – good place for swim (if 40 degree water is your thing)
o Checkpoint #2 will occur within the 35-40 mile range – Hares discretion
o Checkpoint #2 will also serve as the Finish (visit twice)
*There will be bailouts at both checkpoints #1 and #2 for those looking for shorter rides

Map & Directions to the START

Sunday November 2nd, 2008 at 9AM (ride starts) this is an all day ride!
Please be prepared to be self sufficient on the trails.

* Bring water, food, cell phone (to call for help), a good attitude, patience, etc.
* There will be water and food at the 2 checkpoints, but it will be a limited supply
* You will have cell phone coverage - to order pizza, or if you get lost, we can give you directions out.
