First Big Bear is cancelled - but that is another story - Then Team Big Bear decides that they should reschedule the Brian Head Event on the same weekend as Crankworx festival. Of all the open weekends - why that one.
Less W.C. pros will now be able to attend as Whistler Crankworx has become a must go to stop off with all the media and festivities. Where will you be going?

my hi-use
I am definitely going to a place that I have never been and heard the XC trails are steller over a place that I also never been but has a good DH network. Hum  what will a boy do?

I live down the road from B-head. I ride there all the time. My dad (lucky bastard) has ridden at both and he says he would rather be at Whistler. I can't imagine Whistler having a worse party atmosphere than Bhead. Whistler bitch!

Oh i'll be at Whistler for sure!!! I've missed out the past 2 years....i'm definately not gonna miss out this year!

However, it would be nice to attend a new venue for a National....but it just isn't worth it (for me at least). All the top pros will be in Whistler...so I'll have to follow my meal ticket!

My sis live 1 hr away from B.Head so i can lodge there & race high altitude ,uug.
But have never been the awesome Whistler either & could try out A-Line !
{ I'm really not going to either }.But pick Whistler anyday.
Snowshoe is 7 hours away from me here in TN & that's more realistic for me !

Why is everyone so upset that it's now Brian Head over Big Bear? I mean I realize it isn't in SoCal but it's a far superior venue if you ask me. Maybe conflicting dates will help NORBA open their eyes when their pro class is nill.

I'd love to say I'd make it to Whistler but Brian Head is nice and close.

where the trails are
Wouldn't that be just about the worst time you could go to Whistler from a riding perspective? I'd think the biggest crowds and increased traffic can only result in beaten trails and, well, increased traffic.

I'm sure it will be a blast from a spectator and party perspective. Wathcing people ride would fall a distant second to how much I could ride myself. I would think the time just before the fest would be stellar as they would likely have the mountain as prepared as possible for the inbound crowds.

This isn't as issue for me but I would think you race at BH and plan your Whistler trip for a time that doesn't conflict with the race schedule.

I think back to a time when NCS organizers could make their dates any old day they wanted and other organizers would see and go "Man, the NCS is on this weekend, we cant conflict with that-that series is the best" or a we as team managers would tell the riders "Ok, you are going to the NCS this weekend, not the world cup"....

When I went to crankworx a couple years ago the trails were the best they had been because Whistler had just finished grooming them for all the incoming traffic.

I'll be in Whistler.

crankworks last year was epic. huge progression, huge amplitude, a star-studded cast, and amazing riding when you're not watching the pros rip it up. though the crowds on the slopestyle course were huge, the trails on the mountain were in great shape and not too busy. definately the highlight of the year (for me).

I dunno who would pass up whistler.........pro or not that is the place to be for riding.

They'll get the hint when more pros are showing up in whistler because of the impact whistler has on the riding scene then a Norba national. If I was a sponsor of a rider I'd tell them to get going to whistler. Norba isn't bringing money into the sport or a fan base, or hell really anything as where whistler has changed the sport around.

Plus making it the same weekend as another event is retarded. It wasn't like they didn't know what was going on.

.

I will pass on the festival...

My plan is hit the nationals in Brian Head THEN go to whistler for a few weeks when the crowd is gone!! Sure seeing people huch themselves while drinking a few beers is cool but riding on uncrowded trails is better!

i have done crank works/joyride last two years. will be three this summer. Not to mention full strength beer, excellent sushi and the quality of single hot women up from van couver makes whistler an insanely easy choice.
Add in massive quality of proven trails and quantity alone make whistler even on its busiest day seem empty compared to the two maybe three dh trails available at brian head.
