...but of couse, it turns out to be just another tourist trap... 9 quid just to walk in

I remember as a wee lad... when I was in Ireland... we walked through many an old castle with no gates, ropes or signs... I bet even those are all "pay sites" now...

Words come from empty mouths
They echo around the world
Constanly crashing into the sky;
Colliding with the sea and mountains.

Words float in the air aimlessly
Perpetuated by the wind.
Whistling and screaming,
Words find no home.

Words to me are nothing:
They are on paper
Or flashed across the screen,
Devoid of humanity's touch.

Words come from friends,
Who seek to soothe and console
Yet words provide no function
For clearing the black clouds.

its funny... Edinburgh is so 'touristy' that the only Scottish music I heard was in gift shops and from bagpipers on the sidewalk looking for tips...
you gotta hit scotland for a burns night dinner. one of the most fun nights of my life.

and for some excellent contemporary scottish music, check out the bands on chemikal underground. good stuff, mogwai and the delgados in particular.

Ominous pic.

Words can be objects
They can be blunt or sharp.
They can be crushed or bruised.
They can be nothing at all.

Our taxi was one of the 1st on scene to a really bad accident on the way to the Edinburgh airport... The driver of the blue rental van was a young girl... I was detained for a bit for questioning by the local police... kind of shook me up. Seeing this type of thing sometimes puts things in perspective... You really have to appreciate life as all of us have so much in our lives to be thankful for...

Oh... and no matter what kind of 2 wheeled transportation device you are on... wear your helmet... this guy was in a lot of pain, but he was talking and moving his arms and legs before they took him off to the hospital...

...and so ends my travels to Edinburgh as the sun starts to dip below the horizon... Aye Mother Scotland... it’s been good to know ya...

I’ll be in Bristol, UK for another 4 days before I return to the states.

As the sun sets in the West,
we can now return home...
laugh like we used to...
live like we once did.
