your BB may be loose, and derailer misaligned.

**** check you BB for sure. I had problems with a creaking noise, slipping in the middle chain ring. I had a broke tooth on the ring went to change it out and realized that the bb was WAY loose, at least 4 full turns. I'm lucky I did **** anything up permanently

Could be that you've got a bad set of cranks. If the cranks are out by the slightest bit, you'll get creaks. If your bike is new, the cranks would be covered under warranty.

If your bike is old, and it is definately the cranks, you'll have to spring for a new bottom bracket as well.

Check your pedals too. Unthread them, re-grease, and put back on good and tight. If your running platforms, check the screws that hold the cage to the spindle. If they're loose, they'll creak on you too.

Good luck.
