Hey I'm building a cross bike for a female friend. She wants to use a double chainring setup. Any suggestions on gearing?

Singel ring (strictly race): 40 or 42 x 12-27 w/ short cage der

I think my 'crosser is 48/39 with a 12-25 in back... However I saw some chicks at this last weekends CX race who had honkin huge cassettes like 12-32... give her some easy gears.

I'm running 48/38 with a 12-26 SRAM casssette. I want to pick up a 46/34 "compact" road set to try.

For all around riding, a 38-48/12-25 is a good option. Personally, I have a road triple and really like the range. I ride my CX as a road bike more than anything else so the top end is nice to have.
