I swear we've had more rain over the last 7 weeks than we did all winter. Its pouring outside right now, I wish we had a cross race this weekend :( I'm building up single speed cross bike so I can race the Cat A and Single speed at the early races...should be fun! Anyone else excited for cross season? I know its early :)

One of the reasons I was never really into CX down in SoCal is that it seemed somewhat weird/sacrilegious to ride cross on dry/dusty/hardpack trails. Cross is made for rain and snow and mud and sh!tty terrain, not 50psi on slicks.

We've been getting the rain down here too, I love it, though I hope tomorrow is dry, I need to pick up my motorcycle.

Has anyone else heard that "El Nino" rumor? Is there one forming in the Pacific? Rainy end of the year/beginning of next?

Additional: I need to get a new CX frame for this year. Just when I find a smokin' deal on a rad Kona Major Jake, I get a job that kind of precludes me from building it. But I'm on the hunt for something new soon. Got my eye on something, and I sure as hell have the parts for it...

Don't you have a hook up with felt? This bike looks cool....single speed cross is huge up here, one of the biggest categories at the races.

I'm sitting here in a building that says FELT on the outisde, wearing my Felt shirt and Felt socks, so yes. I just haven't gotten around to it yet. I want a frame-only, which we don't offer right now in Cross. I'm waiting for the '10 stuff at this point anyway.

That SS is pretty badass, I almost bought one a while back, but then I didn't.

Why is single speed so popular?
People like excuses for being slow.

The last year I raced the B class I won the series and state title and the couple of guys I spent the season battling with chose to go to single speed instead of race A (forced upgrade)....bunch of pussies.

I see the same thing around here for MTB races. The folks who bleet the loudest for SS classes are the guys whe just miss the podium in the categories they belong in.

Kudos to the guys who show up and ride whatever bikes they enjoy riding the the category they belong in.

I want a vee brake category on mountainy MTB courses.
