Dainses (Next jacket) comfort question

I'm looking to pick up a Safety Next jacket today, but I have one question....

I know the jacket is extremely comfy while wearing it in the shop, but how's it riding all day long. Any rashes? Did you have to wear something underneath (this would suck here in SoCal).

I just got one a few months back. I'm 155lbs and got a large.

Don't know if it's my body style - but the jacket is tight on my torso, but the arms feel loose...

Backplate: I don't feel it when I ride, but when it's time to sit on the lift - the backplate is so rigid that it chafes my back unless I wear a ticker undershirt.

Other than that it's extremely comfortable and breathes well.

Saftey jackets are about as comfortable as armor gets in my opinion (of course, I am biased).

I wear sleeveless under amour underneath, prevents nipple chaffing.

Out of curiosity, how much are you paying?

i dont wear anything underneath mine , and have no problems at all, some people have problems with nipple chaffage .

you only tend to get a rash if you leave it unwashed for long periods

I wear a DeFeet undershirt just to help wick the sweat away. I hardly ever wear the back piece since I almost always wear a roadie camelback under my jersey.

FYI (kind of spammish, but since I don't work at the Bike Company, it is more of an informational thing....

The Bike Company has Dainese Jackets at $250 (normally $399)

Way too much :mumble: :mumble: Was going to the D store in Costa Mesa, California.

Emailed you awhile back (thru the Transcend store email) to see if you had any XL in stock, but no reply. I assumed you were out.

Thanks bro. That's gotta be the reg Safety jacket, not the Next, but I'll give them a call.

i dont understand this but a lot of people seem to be under the impression that a camelbak somehow offers good back protection???

the back plate is the only part of my body armour that i really feel is effective , the arm and shoulder pads arn't much good in preventing broken bones in my opinion they just stop cuts.

Because it is a big cushion of water between my spine and the rocks. I've landed hard on it several times and it definitly broke the fall.

I have found that I need to strike a balance between protection and comfort. If it isn't comfortable, I will be less inclined to wear it. Then what good does it do me. I know the dianese knees aren't the best for protection, but they are so comfortable, I wear them all the time.

A camelback can cause more harm than good. At low speed crashes I guess it could be effective but at high speed it may cause the spine to bend which is about as bad as it gets.

dainese safety jackets rock. I put my camelback on top of the spine protector

Hey Slacker!

I've got one of those jackets and my only complaint is that there isn't enough 'shirt' on it. The chest plate tends to ride up and rub on my neck. I guess I've got to loose a little gut.

I also wear a D-feet shirt under it. I tried some of those Underarmor shirts but they are too hot.

Damn, that's the same complaint my buddy has with his cheap 661 gear. It didn't look like you had a gut.

Don't tell me I'm actually going to have to get in shape (other than pear shaped :mumble: :mumble: ) now!

my safety jacket (non-next) is really comfortable. the torso/arm proportions are right on and i haven't experienced any chafing problems or the like.

Hehehe...It really only bothers me when I'm sitting down, like riding the lift. When I stretch out riding it settles down. I have the jacket and gladiator pants and I don't know I'm wearing it until I crash and 'don't' feel anything. I think you should go for it. The stuff just works.
