I thought this was going to be a positive post about Northstar - not a negative post about getting a ding in your downtube. Sucks Brian - how big is the ding?

Man that sux...I feel for you. Not to make you feel bad, but but I'm glad I got the go ride downtube protector before I went to N* a couple weeks back. Tons of patches to hit the bb on as well as flyers. You know its working when you hear the cracking sound of the rocks hitting thick aluminum piece.

damn brian that sucks to hear, i can understand the frustration. i got majorly P'd off at a few deep gouges out of the paint work i obtained off the jagged rocks on my local DH at the end of last summer, luckily nothing structuraly damaging but it did get me paranoid, i fitted a downtube guard that i made myself, but after a couple of months i took it off again.

if it aint too much trouble some pics would be cool.

while were on the subject of N*, whats it like for pricing, i.e accomodation, lift access, food and drink, etc, for about a week, i'm considering it for some holiday destinations next summer, just want a rough idea.

just go to your local sporting goods or department store and try a few on. It seems like everywhere from Kmart to Big 5 carry pisspots, they all look the same so unless you're a brand whore nobody will care where you bought it. I'd guess some of the yuppie sporting goods chain stores would be the best bet as they'd cater more to adults than children.

Sorry to hear that Brian.
It looks like it'll live for quite a while.
Michelle also managed to put a small dent in her swingarm as she endoed over the sticks waterfall.

...and people look at my bike funny when they see a old tire zip tied to the downtube. cheap insurance.

you might also want to see if your camera has macro mode ;)

I'm not worried about its structual integrity, it just pisses me off. Is Michelle OK? Thats a nasty little section.

Don't you know... Brian cares more about how the bike LOOKS than how it RIDES.

He was asking me how I like the new 888 b/c he still hasn't ridden his yet.
;)

You're in a rage because you have a couple nicks on the DT? It's a mountain bike, get over it.

Personally, when I have a new bike, after the first scratch I could care less about the asthetics of the bike.
