Not to sound like the lefty commie pink that I am, but how can all poor people be poor? First off, education is not free. Far from it. Try getting a descent paying job with a high school education.
Second, none of us are that far from being on hard times ourselves. Imagine the following scenario. You have a job, a mortgage, maybe a car payment. Not a huge amount of debt. You work your 9-5 and have a couple g's in the bank just in case. After a year the unemployment dries up and your broke. What happens now? House forclusure? Repo guy gets your car?

If you own a small business, you pay yourself a tiny little salary, so that you pay very little income tax. Then to purchase "stuff" you do it through the company. Like if I wanted to say, buy a Sportworks rack for myself....to put on my 2005 company owned truck, I would buy it through the company as "an engineering sample" or something. And then I use it however I like.
