If there is a generalized DDOS attack on DNS root servers, it could affect RM. Besides, it seems to pester you so on the face of it it's worth posting.

Interesting. Must have quite a distributed network to take down the amount of bandwidth and CPU horsepower available @ the root servers.

Fortunately DNS is such a distributed system that most people will not even notice.

It affects Verizon FIOS users. I switched from their DNS servers to Google and OpenDNS for now. Their DNS servers had been outperforming the free ones on random test of various popular sites, but not this time...
