I've had an account for a couple of years now that I barely use. It's set to private and I don't spend enough time on it to warrant having one, so it looks like I'll partake in this.

good, hopefully it will free up server/bandwidth issues.

i don't use it much, but when i do, it's slow as hell. still, hard to complain about a free service.

Dancin' over rocks n' roots!
I fall somewhere in between the first two. I have an account and use it to keep in touch with some friends from college and out of state, but I am definitely not an addict nor am I on it everyday.

It was a novel, useful concept gone completely to sh1t. I've got pretty much a 'dead' account that I created just to view pages of small video production people/friends and some bands but even in my very limited use of the site, I can relate to 90% of the complaints in that article.

I'd love to see a better execution of the concept because the current incarnation does indeed suck. I think part of the commercialism is a direct result of the youth presence there........a presense that also is less likely do demand competent functionality.

Deleting my account wouldn't mean much to me so sure, why not?

Summed it up pretty well. I've also seen other attempts at a similar network for specific audiences that fall short. I find that my e-mail lists work fine for me so I think I'll just stick to them.

I had myspace, but then one day I got friends in real life. I no longer have myspace.

Plus I spend all day at work on a computer, so the last thing I want to do I go home and plop my fat ass in front of another computer all night.

Myspace makes baby Jesus cry. The lack of formatting and the awful wysiwyg sh!tty tools that let people embed annoying musicand crap animation drives me crazy.

I created a page because I worked for a company that made some crappy widgets for it. I went to my brothers page and because the text doesn't wrap and there is no side scroll, you can only see about half the page.

<edit> I bet the guy who created Facebook created this "Delete myspace day"

My band uses myspace heavily to keep in touch with fans. I am not deleting my account. It works perfectly fine for what I use it for.

Facebook is obnoxious. I logged in back when you needed to have a school email address. It was okay to begin with, but now everyone keeps creating their own "programs", and asking me to "Join the cause to fight world hunger while eating tamales and hanging from the jungle gym at your kindergarten playground because we love raisins!"

It's actually quite annoying.

I use my myspace to keep in touch with people. I hate it, but I use it. And personally, I think making your myspace private means one of two things:

#1 - You think that you're so fantastic that people you don't like looking at you are always trying to look at you.

#2 - You have drunken pictures of yourself all over the place, and you're applying for colleges or for a job.

My reasoning is a mix of numbers one and two. I think I'm so fantastic that people should be invited to be able to see me and when I'm applying for the fluffer position at the start-up porn biz, I don't want them to see all the photos of me puking.

I originally did it to curb the random friend adds, but it didn't work too well.

It always made me chuckle how many people leave that asshat as their first friend. The first thing I did after creating the band account was delete him.

Myspace is owned by Rupert Murdoch, so I won't go into politics in this forum- I'll just say you're nuts to make that man more powerful and wealthy based on the principles he stands for.

I deleted mine earlier this week. Facebook is slowly digging its grave with all of the gay applications and page layouts. You should have to prove some sort of design credentials before you can get approval for making your page layout.

I made a myspace to keep in contact with the odd friend halfway around the world.
Don't touch it often, log in about once every two months...

Since I moved to Facebook my MySpace account sees little action. Not deleting it thou, still communicates me with friends that don't want to jump ship to Facebook.

I have a myspace account to keep in touch with my college friends & various other friends I don't see that often. More of them are on myspace than facebook, actually, so I'm not gonna delete mine.

Between work, playing with my wife and daughter, and occasionally posting here... I would have no time for it. I already dumped cable 4 years ago thinking it would grant me the extra time I need for things, and barely enough time to ride (ask kidwoo). I start my day at 5am and fall asleep at 11pm, all the while, quite busy.

How does one have time for murdochspace?
