Now that my season is pretty much over and Im getting kinda bored Ive been staring at my bike. Ive seen a few sundays that have she shock cradle with cut outs in it. Has anybody ever done it to a demo?

Im not really asking for advice, cause I dont know if Ill actually do it, Im just kinda curious if it has been done. Kinda slow here so feel free to give me some insight on this.

My demo 7i back in 2008

Also removed the FD cable tabs, S logo and 10mm of seat tube.. not that much difference but it was fun :)

The Sunday's use a pocketed plate, whereas the Demo appears to use a hydroformed tube in that area. Big difference. No to drilling on the Demo.

Out of curiousity, I know what hydroforming is but what is the strength difference between it and the plate on the sundays?
It would be imprudent for me or anyone else to make an exact guestimation without having the material type, and dimensions to peform an analysis, but generally speaking if you’re planning on drilling into a structural tube, stress risers are going to be significantly higher than if you drilled into a substantially thicker plate. The plate is thicker than the tube, and is already pocketed out. Tubes don't take to holes too well as far as load bearing is concerned.
