Hi,

Using the 'linkage' software, I've been comparing the anti-squat curves of three bikes that I have ridden recently.
Specialized Demo8 2008
Giant Glory 2008
Ironhorse Sunday 2008

From riding the bikes, I would conclude that the Sunday has the best pedalling performance, then the Demo8, and the Glory has the worst pedalling performance.

However, according to 'linkage' (and also I have calculated the exact same values in my own 'linkage spreadsheet') it suggests that the Demo8 has much lower values of anti-squat when compared to the Sunday and the Glory.
So much less, in fact, that it ventures into the pro-squat range after just 50mm of vertical movement!

How come the bike feels OK to pedal?
surely a pro-squat bike would be awful to pedal around?

Are there other factors that I'm not considering, that also have an effect on how well the bike pedals?
I'm guessing the leverage ratio also plays a significant role in minimising 'pedal bob', by having a lower ratio near the sag point but a higher ratio deeper in the travel?

Cheers,
Hugh.
