If you can't beat all candidates you don't really deserve to win.

Democrats Score Win in Fight Over Nader in Florida

2 hours, 13 minutes ago
By Michael Peltier

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (Reuters) - A Florida judge ordered county elections officials on Wednesday to issue absentee ballots without the name of independent presidential candidate Ralph Nader (news - web sites), a possible blow to President Bush (news - web sites) in the battleground state.

Circuit Judge Kevin Davey overruled a move this week by Florida's elections supervisor to include Nader on the ballot for the Nov. 2 election as a Reform Party candidate.

Nader was a candidate in 2000 when Bush won Florida by 537 votes to clinch the White House. Analysts said most of Nader's nearly 98,000 votes in Florida would have gone to Democrat Al Gore (news - web sites) had Nader not been on the ballot.

The GOP is the master at dirty tricks, don't get mad at the Dems for trying to level the playing feild.

Nadar is the best running mate W has ever had...

"[the Democrats] think [Nader being allowed on the ballot] was unlawful and very unfortunate, not from a partisan perspective but because it would confuse the voters and contribute to the kind of uncertainty that is bad for our democracy,"
 . yeah, it would "confuse the voters", right.

the point is that nader is more appealing than kerry. the democrats shouldn't have be so stupid as to have picked him. either that or they could introduce a far-right candidate that appeals more to a small but significant group of potential bush voters than bush. eliminating nader as a choice solves nothing.

Tench, I agree with you except that the Repugs are doing the opposite... they're using resources to get Nader on various state's ballots. That's just as wrong as the Dems doing what they're doing.

Sometimes, the American 'Democratic' system amazes me... So Nader is effectively banned from running in Florida? Fair enough a vote for him is a vote for Bush (oh the Irony) but that's just ridiculous.

Opie do you have a source for where the Repubs. are pulling this in other states? I'd like to see that. Why isn't Nader availible as a choice in these other states anyway?

The Oregon Family Council is a conservative Christian group that opposes same-sex marriage and abortion rights. Oregon Citizens for a Sound Economy is the state chapter of a national anti-tax group headed by former House Majority Leader Dick Armey.
Both groups openly admit they urged supporters to show up at the Nader event.

"We called about 1,000 folks in the Portland area and said this would be an opportunity to show up to provide clarity in the presidential debate," said Matt Kibbe, president of CSE
Haha brilliant, i pray to Jesus Christ that Nader wins just to make these good Americans happy. :D

"If Ralph Nader gets on the ballot, he would pull thousands of liberal votes that would otherwise go to Kerry and perhaps cause President Bush to lose the election," read one script for the phone campaign, which CREW cited in its complaint.
Here's my thinking on this..... Nader is not a threat to sway any voters for Kerry. i really believe that the Nader constituents who are left without a vote for him on the ballot, will simply not vote. And if Nader is forced off the ballot Kerry will lose more votes than gain. But if they take Gay Penguin off the ballot, then my freinds it's time for a revolution.....

You believe? You could not be more wrong about anything ever. Your thinking is the exact opposite of reality.

How's the ankle healing? You walking around? You should get a roadie to help rehab it. No, I'm serious.

Yes i believe it to be true. The only way a Nader vote get's turned into a Kerry vote is if Nader bows out.

And the Fibula is going good. It took a little while for the Tibia (small bone) to heal because my aircast wasn't allowing it to set. But now i'm on the faster route in my recovery. About 3 weeks ago i started putting wieght on it with crutches. Walked everyday from a half mile to 3 miles and put in time with my road bike (Yes i'm serious i've had one for around 5 years now). About 5 days ago i started walking without crutches, i'm up to a mile of walking now and i ride an hour a day on a trainer. I'm getting close to taking the road bike off the trainer and hitting the street, and i'm visiting a physical therapist on Friday to get new ideas on exercises and training, i've been fighting knee pain where the doc split my tendon to put the rod in. So i'm on the downward run off the precipice as far as recovery goes and i can't wait to get my wheels on some dirt.

Google the 2000 election results... Nadar cost Gore plenty of votes. Yeah, maybe some of the Nadar freaks would just not vote - but a larger percentage would chose to vote Kerry in order to get thier say.
