DEMS UNVEIL '08 MESSAGE: 'YOU'RE FAT!'
Tue Feb 14 2006 08:28:55 ET

THE DRUDGE REPORT has obtained an email sent Monday evening by Democratic National Committee (DNC) research director Devorah Adler that contains ten opposition research packets on potential 2008 GOP presidential contenders.

In one packet titled “Newt Gingrich: 08 Watch February 2006” a picture of the former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich (R-GA) appears with --- him holding two full plates of food!

The quote underneath the Gingrich photo reads “In His Own Words: Gingrich’s Solution To Childhood Obesity: ‘Turn off the TV, cut the fatty diet and get exercise.’ [AP, 2/8/06]”

The ten Republicans picked by the Democrat Party include: Sen. George Allen (R-VA), Sen. Sam Brownback (R-KS), Sen. Bill Frist (R-TN), Gingrich, Former Mayor Rudy Giuliani (R-NY), Sen. Chuck Hagel (R-NE), Gov. Mike Huckabee (R-AR), Sen. John McCain (R-AZ), Gov. George Pataki (R-NY) and Gov. Mitt Romney (R-MA).

One Republican strategist who had seen the opposition research packets said: 'We should expect nothing less than name-calling and referring to one’s political opponents as ‘fat’ from Howard Dean’s Democrat Party.'

It's sad that the Dems can only resort to such petty tactics instead of domestic and internation crimes.

Big dreams require big sacrafices.

I think the dems are equally culpable and would rather put forth this token effort than have the light of truth shone on their activities...

Sadly, after seeing Dean speak at a union labor meeting last friday this statement is 100% true. The Dems need a platform that extends beyond identifying what the repubs are doing wrong.

Identifying what the Reps. are doing wrong is not the same as name calling.

It is when all you do is call them names while referencing their mistakes.

My tedious commentary?

I didn't see the speech, so I have to go by what you are saying. I have no reason to think that you are lying to me, but it's not name calling to call Bush a liar, criminal, etc. if he really is a liar, criminal, etc. Now, some of those are debatable, so it depends on the context. I agree that namecalling is not constructive, but we see it going both ways, and what I object to is the notion that only the Dems. are guilty of it. (Note: not saying that you are making that claim.)

You know what's offensive? The Dems bashing Bush at Corretta Scott-King's wake. So out of line.....

I'm conservative Independant, and find Bush to be a bumbling idiot, but the constant negativity and lack of directin from the Dem's ensure my conservative vore.
And Cheney telling people to go F themselves is positive? Bush lying to the public is positive? Circumventing the law to spy on people is positive? Pandering to the religious right is positive? Talking about breaking our addiction to oil, then assuring the Saudi minister the next day that it was all a bunch of BS is positive? Rejecting climate science so that we can continue to make sure the Exxon gains record profits is positive? Rejecting evolution is positive? You have a funny definition there.

I also find it funny that in the Rep. controlled Congress, bills sponsored by Dems. are not even brought to the floor unless a Rep. co-signs the bill. Yet, it's the Dems. fault for not having ideas? The Reps. are in control, and the policies we have are their fault, not the Dems.

So you don't like what they're doing, and what they're doing is send America down the toilet, ****ing up millions of peoples lives, lying and cheating, breaking the domestic law, breaking international law, destroying the environment for their own profit, making the entire world hate you, ****ting on the constitution, and yet, you're going to VOTE FOR THEM ANYWAY?

There a word for people like you. Actually there are several.
