dent repair?

is there any way to repair a dent in an aluminum frame. i somehow got one in my ne NRS. i think it's 7005 aluminum if that matters

are you sure it's new?

several bikes have a dent manufactured in the swingarm in that spot to allow the cranks to clear when you pedal...

it pretty much mates correctly with the end of the crank. it doesn't look like a clearance issue.

i sent the picture to FOES, and they should to watch it. its bad if it develops a hairline crack. if not, ride it. they said they can repair it ($150US) by welding, heat treating etc...

it apparently has been there for a while - the owner doesn't even know when it happened (or, in case of your question, if it happened).

the other side of the chainstay is fine, which leads me to believe that this dent won't do anything. any other opinions?

I'd run with it like that... there's no crease, and since it's on the flange (face) of the arm, i'm pretty sure it's not gonna weaken the part too significantly...
