Some one correct me if I am wrong. I remember hearing that you can you use deore disc levers with XTR disc. I know you can use XT levers, I just want to make sure you can do the same with deore.

Mechanicly they look exactly the same.

i thought deore was mechanical and XT and XTR are hydro's?

With the disc you are supposed to be able to use any shimano levers and calipers. That is what i have been told so far.

Shimano has a hydro version of deore... the 555 series I belive.

yea they will work aslong as you use their hoses and such. all must me ****manyo.
i actually just helped my friend build a set with the XT levers. nice disc brake, finally they come up with their own design and not a "copy" of something already out there.

it would work but the problem would lay in being able to purchase a set of the deore levers and the xtr calipers. or vice versa.......

well you can just buy deore levers and XTR calibers just come as that, calibers. they dont come in sets. that'd be too hard. cause you have to choose what XTR levers you want to use, Disc or V.

I have everything now.

shimano was kind of enough just to send me the left side brake lever. Now, I have a set.

I am happy, now I can run the XTR stuff with out using the intergrated luncay.

I hope shimano releases just the levers so everyone else can use the new gear without the intagrated system.

I thought you could not buy the levers by them self. I was under the impression that you can only get them in kits.

You can run deore levers with Hayes calipers, too.
No problem, just run mineral oil in the whole system.

I was thinking about getting some XTR shifter/levers at some point for my XT disc equipped bike.

Well, I have deore brake levers controlling the XTR calipers just fine. Thanks for the help everyone...guess when I can get more money I will upgrade to the XT levers and use the deores as backups.

100% cross compliant, just stick to mineral oil.
