Last Sunday we had a really muddy, crappy, race. I'm normally all for muddy races, but the sunshine turned the mud to peanut butter and the conditions continued to get worse throughout the day. During the A race I was having issues with mud packing up and 3/4 mi from the finish I ripped my rear der. off and sent it through my wheel.
My question is whether or not the cage can be replaced on an Ultegra SL der? The Ultegra line does not have the bolt like DA, but I was wondering if the rivet is actually threaded on one end and I could disassemble and replace with a DA cage? Outside of the cage the rest of the der. appears to be in good shape (or as good as it can be after a season of cross).
