Ok, work project.
In three descriptive words, convey how you feel about Specialized brand bikes.

I know how I feel about the brand, but I'm trying to get an idea of other people see thier bikes.
Don't give me a hard time, what else do you have to do at work?

He said to state our opinions about Specialized. As for your Yeti comment, HAve you ever ridden one? Tell me which one is "overhyped" and "average at best". :nope:
you yetifanboys are so excitable...take the barb out of yr cheek.

btw, my buddy was so impressed by his 575 that he's selling it after 8 rides and getting either heckler or enduro. :p

to each their own. The DH, DJ, 4x, and ASX are the best gravity bikes I have ever ridden. hands down.
Actually, I like the ride of my AS-X but I'm not convinced that it's the best bike I could have gotten. The rear is a little flexy with a QR skewer (I know a solid axle will help out,) I'm afraid to run the 6" position because I have the earlier model that will wallow out or crack the swing link mounting holes, it's a little bit heavier than a SC Bullit or Azonic Saber which were the other two bikes I was seriously considering at the time I bought my AS-X, the color scheme is either a love or hate thing (although color is really at the bottom of my list, I know a lot of people really care alot about it, I got the supposedly fugly tan color.) It is definately the best in it's price range though, the swing link makes the suspension feel much better than a Bullit and frankly I trust the build quality and materials of the AS-X more than I would a Saber, and that's why I got it. The Yeti name didn't really mean much to me at the time and I wouldn't buy another one just because of the name, if the price, features and quality of say a 575 seemed better than say a heckler or enduro, or if the 303 seemed much better than a Turner DHR I wouldn't hesitate to get another yeti, but I have in no way been brainwashed by yeti into thinking they are the end all and be all of bikes.

I honestly don't think Stoney is any differant, he just knows what works best for him and each time yeti has come up on top, well that and some sponsorship deals. :sneaky:

Hype

But, underneath all that hype, their is a lot of good technology. I think Specialized is sorta like that kid (Mike Alessi or Andy Irons for example) who is really good but is also not afraid to talk himself up which alienates a lot of people. Whereas if he kept his mouth shut and let his performances speak for themselves, more people would buy in.

Speccy makes killer bikes, their retail prices of late have been shocking though. Overall I think they are a very good company that always tries to stay on top. Their new glasses are possibly the best new cycling accessory in years.

:p So funny coming from a Hope whore.
Way off-topic:

Noah, the westridge you mention in your sig, is that Niscene? If so that trail has been illegal for years and it's status is unaffected by the recent ruling. Ride that snake all the way to Valhalla! Sooo fun!

Yeah I see what you're saying but it seems that for every one who is turned off by the hype there are at least 3 or 4 that lap it up. I mean, they're selling lots of bikes at pretty steep prices so in that sense they're doing something right.
