Yeah I see what you're saying but it seems that for every one who is turned off by the hype there are at least 3 or 4 that lap it up. I mean, they're selling lots of bikes at pretty steep prices so in that sense they're doing something right.
Overall I think the mass market scoops up that bravado. I grew up in Morgan Hill and everybody had a Specialized, even if they didn't need one! I personally like the brand direction and I think they make some of the best bikes around. But the whole "Acronym or Die" er, I mean "Innovate or Die" slogan does get kinda old.

I think most of the people who dislike Specialized don't know what all goes on behind the scenes. There is so much tech poured into their bikes. Zertz for road bikes, ORE and M5 for MTB's, the list goes on...good stuff.

Man this is turning into a focus group...

I agree with you and in fact I like their bikes, they continue to come up with good stuff year after year. Like a lot of people a Specialized was my first mountain bike and I went through a few, never any real problems. I was only responding to what sounded like the notion that they should focus on the fashionistas instead of the broader populace. The type of people that base a buying decision on how much marketing hype the company spews is probably a small group and would never buy a bike from a company as big as Specialized anyway. They can't please everyone and they don't want to get smaller, so they might as well hype it up for the mass market...not saying I agree but I can understand it.

Thanks for your help guys. This one legit work post has validated all the time I spend wasting on here.

When you see Specialized's new retail program, you can say that you helped influence it.
I'm not sure if that will be good or bad
