I am having an issue printing my design project in quarkxpress. I am running the newest MacOSX and when i goto print my quark will just randomly crash. I know this is an issue with many people but can not find an answer online. Anyone know a fix or a way to print my layout

HELP!!!!

Try 'printing' to a PDF file.

If you can make a PDF, then you can print it from Acrobat.

Is the final destination your printer or someone else's? Is it going on press?

If you want to resolve the Quark issue, copy the contents of the file to a new file. If it's not easy to copy, then do a thumbnail-drag... set both files to thumbnail view with the two files tiled (so you can see both), then click first page in the existing file, shift-click the last page (scroll if needed), then drag to the new file.

Save-as.

PS: your problem is too vague to say more and yeah, Quark can be quite buggy at times. Do you have 6.52?

Deep in the Jungles of Oklahoma
Step 1: restart, try again

Step 2: Yell piss and moan to Guhldeep.. err I mean 'Joe', try again

Step 3: Export as PDF and print on a reliable app (Acrobat)

Step 4: Order Adobe ID and observe as you slowly stop using Quark because, despite efficiency, its capabilities are so limited and its bugs are so numerous.

BTW what version are you running?

I know it is a common problem in the newest OS X. I'm not sure on the quark version i have 6.5 but not sure which one after that. I went with the export as pdf and print from acrobat. It is just an issue that i want to resolve for future problems. if i cant figure it out i guess it is time i learn InDesign.

Thanks guys!

It sounds like a recurring problem?

I'm running 6.52 and OS 10.4.7 and I do not have any regular issues.

Have you tried deleting the XPress preferences? That file seems to have more problems than any other Quark file.

That said, if you send files out-of-house, I recommend always PDFing them with little or no compression, font inclusion, bleeds, crop marks. Oh, and use "DeviceN" for color output.

Good luck!
