Yup. Did my first ever 50/50 sprocket grind on the On/Off rock at the end of the rock garden. Blew my shot at the jersey. It's OK. Not like you can wear it or anything. :banghead:

A few observations about the race.

Strobel won practice.
Ethan Quehl won all respect.
Elliot Jackson is starting to piece it together.
Brad Benedict in 14th is a surprise. He crushed it for the most part.
Anybody know who was up 30 and who was down during that pro passing match in the rocks?
Gwin is boring in practice. Lethal out of the gate.;)

The 9 yr old girl who fell harder than any one person all weekend at the finish is amazing...and tough.
Lots of pros were humbled in the rocks.
Flats are faster through rocks....when you're running beside your bike.
The rest of the country missed a great race.
The industry disrespected it's own sport by not coming out in full force to it's showcase event.

Oh, and I've got two, yeah TWO boxes of Post Grape Nuts!!!:thumb:

Wow, 8 out of the top 10 were from West Coast of Mountain states. Unbelievable that they could do so well on a gnarly east coast track! Very surprising.

Well congrats on your finish. Yeah, my nat'l jersey has been hanging on the wall for years and it looks better there than on me. Thanks for the quick rundown too. Now go nuts with your prize boxes.:D

Yeah there were plenty, not sure what he meant by that.
Maybe it was just b/c I only came on Friday and Sunday and loss crowds mingling in the pit area made it look smaller, but I didn't see a support vehicle for the big Specialized contingent. Then I looked for SRAM and all I saw was a van with chics reclining in the seats. Did they maybe pull their tech tent Sunday?

Courses were great and I didn't hear any riders complain about anything, which is what really matters.

It's really all about Umuricuh!!! :rockout:

Quotes of the day:
Memmelar to me: "Dude, there was money on the rocks"
Me: "Yeah, there was a $20 in front of the giant bunny."
Memmelgnar: "No, this was a $1 on the left line."

A guy in charge: "I got wasted last night and took a golf cart down the slalom! F*** Yeah!" :weee:

Chic w/ cowbell: "Why don't more people like you? You're f***in' awesome!"

I was the first pro down on sunday. distinctly noticed a $20 in the right line. asked a few people after the race if I was just seeing things and I guess I was right. Funny that that $20 was the only real thing i can remember about my race run

Would it make you feel any better if I told you there were lots who had a longer, closer look at it?

It was awesome to come out to this event and take pictures even when I could not ride. I have gone through and picked out some of my favorite shots but I still have a thousand other pictures. Here is one of my galleries:

As for the $20 bill on the track, that was the money line! We had several people crash right next to it and I am surprised no body snagged it. As for the Bunny suit, you could not breathe or see in it but it was well worth it!

Thanks to everyone that came out to support and again thanks to Chris Herndon and the crew at Beech Mountain!

Thanks,
Nick Gragtmans
