DH racing in Germany?

I'm an American, but I live in Germany and I want to race a regional series called "King of the Bike Park" that is all over Germany. Anyone have any idea what license that is? Obviously it's not NORBA and I can't find info in English anywhere... Any help would be appreciated.

there are two different classes: fun class for people without a license and a license class, where a BDR (german cycling federation) license is required. so you don`t necessarily need a license to race at KoB.

no, you don´t need results.
to get a license, all you have to do is join a cycling club. any road cycling club will do, doesn`t have to be a mtb club.
plans on racing at bad wildbad?

I live in Kaiserslautern. About 2 hours from Winterberg. I've been to Totenau, Bad Wildbad, Winterburg, Burg Frankenstein, Morzine/Les Gets. Yeah I'll be at Wildbad this season getting the crap kicked out of me on the rocks. Of course this year I'll be on a 888RC and not a Drop Off. Not that it isn't a great fork... right.

Just thought Id post this

Ein neuer Name musste her.

23./24.04. Solling Funpark
28./29.05. Absolute Abfahrt Ilmenau
16./17.07. Rittersausen in Rittershausen
06./07.08. Lauscha

Bundesliga wil have another name and is gonna have an extra race in Sollingen.
These ar probably the race dates from king of bikepark

14./15.05.2005 - Bikepark Bischofsmais
21./22.05.2005 - Bikepark Todtnau
25./26.06.2005 - Feuerberg/Rhön
27./28.08.2005 - Bikepark Bad Wildbad
17./18.09.2005 - Bikepark Winterberg

The German Nationals.
22.07.05 - 24.07.05 Deutsche Meisterschaft DH, Geiskopf/Bischoffsmais

And 04.-05.06.2005, there will be a World Cup at Willingen (near Winterberg) on a brand new Downhill and 4x track.
That shiat will be off the hook. A World Cup Downhill and 4x track at a 2 hours drive away from my house.

as the others said you only need to be member of a bike club and can get the licence from the.

still the so called hobby class is not just beginners.
the fastest people there are about 20 secs slower then the winner of the licence class.
its a challenge to compete there!

btw welcome to racing here.
the king of bikepark series is a really good start, good races on good courses.

That was quick, only sent it on Thursday. Took me 8 months to get the package to the post office though. :D Let me know if the quality is crap and I'll try and make a better copy.

I figure I would rather just start out in the harder class and get my ass kicked. Should be a good summer for sure. 20 bucks to ride in the ODR van?!? Blarmy. yeah I'll be over soon to do the spring change. Do you know where to pick up some fork oil around here Paul? If you find yourself near some maybe we could go in on buying a few litres for the season.

Hey UiUiUiUi,
Since you seem to have the lowdown on the racing over here... Do you know any bike clubs around K-town or the vague area that I can register to online. I'm not looking to join a club and do club rides, just want the license so I can enjoy getting my arse kicked next summer. Thanks

no need for a licence for that.
you can get your arse handed to you without a licence, and you won't have to pay the member fee of the club + the 90 Euros for the license.

sorry i have no idea about bike clubs in your area.

I'm a Bad wildbad man me. spent way too much time there. But it's the obly track i've been on where it doesn't matter if you know it by heart or not: it remains a freaking challenge to do it properly.
