I need to build up new wheels for my Mpire-right now it has rhynolites and a doublewide-and im not liking either of the rims. I want something on the lighter side. The front hub is 36 spoke, the rear is 32. The rear is 165 spacing so its a strong wheel. I was looking at 521's, or if i can find them 321's(cause the 321's are cheaper then the 729). What do you think? what about singletracks? or a Sun Rims equivalent to a 321.

If you are looking at Sun, go for the MTXs. Better design, much stronger than singlewides or the light but relatively weak singletracks. Singletracks are more of a trailriding rim even though they are speced on some DH bikes.

go with MTXs for sure. Mine held up great, went through N* without a flatspot, and havnt come out of true or flatspotted yet and its been 1/2 a season of abuse on them. Cant say the same about my old 823s which died on me in a week. Im very happy with MTXs, nice and light, and as strong as a mag30

if your not too hard on your gear try some of the new 321s, theyre a sort of freeride rim, a little lighter than the 521s/721s but still plenty strong.. ive run them all year including giving them a good beating down the fort william wc track for a few days and plenty of racing all season and i havent had to touch my wheels once.

You said you wanted somthing light but didn't like the rhyno lite. Whats didn't you like? an Alex DX 32 is cheap, wide and pretty strong you might give those a shot.

The old 321's are the multi season DH rim, hold up really well
521's are the best stength to weight rim IMO. Light enough, but damn tough.

Mavics old 321 is my favorite DH rim. I think its called the 729 now? It is the only wheel that has lasted on the back of my bike for an entire season. 521s are also strong but the braking surface on them makes them dent easily.

EX721's, not too expenisve, very strong, I like mine :)

Arrow make's some FRX (their light weight DH/Trail rim) that wern't bad either. I ran those before switching to Mavic's because I wanted a new wheelset. I've had zero problems with each one.

The D321's are solid as well.
