Just gathering data on the average amount of tires racers (and general riders) use/go through every month. Factor in your training/riding/racing application and base your tire choice on medium or soft compound racing tire.

Additionally, please indicate which tire you often replace, rear or front.

Thanks.

I change my tires a lot so I can save the good ones for racing. I probably go through 2 sets a season total. I keep one for racing one for skidding into turns at Whistler.

My front Tioga loses a couple side knobs per full weekend of riding. It's fine until it's missing three or four in a row, and then I get scared and replace it. That's usually close to two months. My rear Hutchinsons can't seem to last more than a couple weeks before I tear the sidewalls. And by that point the side knobs are all half torn off, too. So yeah, tell them to make better sidewalls. My super tacky Maxxis on the Supergo lasted a couple months I think. The knobs were all gone in a couple weeks, but the sidewall lasted longer. I think you were there when that dork cockblocked me into a rock and it tore. I had a Michelin that lasted almost a full year until it rotted and started falling apart. It wasn't completely bald yet at that point but it was close. I think I'm gonna get another one of those. Do you have any?

I run a set of 60a high rollers for everything but racing , got michis or all types and some maxxis for racing.

Cheap system and plenty of grip at all times.

I have a training set (Maxxis DHF 42a or 40a front and 60a rear). The rear lasts about 5-6 rides (usually on month). The front about the same. As for racing tires I use a DHFs in 42a in rear and either a 42a or 40a front depending on conditions. I usually get two races on the rear and then its done, the fronts last a little longer. I would say for a season, which is late march to late November I probably got through 16 or more tires.

It really depends on the barometer reading. My watch tells me what the humidity levels are doing and I find this to be very helpful. I've been known to wear a camelback with a couple of spare tires strapped to it, if the humidity level changes by more than 7.5% I will pull over and change the tire accordingly. I usually only change the rear tire because I tend to wheelie alot and figure that rear tracion is more important in this scenario. And , did I mention, u r sofa king re-tar did.

my maxxis tires usually last about one year or so, I let them get pretty worn before I replace them.

Yep. I feel like I'm not riding enough or hard enough to take this survey because the Michelin tires refuse to show wear. Had mine a little over a year now, I think. You just can't kill them. They keep going and going...side knobs are finally starting to crack, but are holding on instead of flying off like Tiogas, and they still work fine.

Like Mike said, I don't ride enough to give a good reply but my Michelins seem to wear great. No problems with the tubeless set up either.

So far I've had my high roller/minion combo for... 5 months-ish. They're still in really good condition, hell they can prolly last me for another 4.

I change my tires around quite a bit so it's hard to say. I definitely do not burn a set out in less than 3 months. The vast majority of my riding is on my XC or CX bikes.

i have a lot of tires that i switch between. like 5-6 so they are all mostly pretty good. i usually use a 2.6 kenda up front in the hard compound and i used to use the specialized tire in the rear till i wore it down to the beed. now i just run the highroller i used to use strictly for racing and bought another highroller. ive had the older highroller about a year and a half. its still pretty good. 1 ripped off knob and the center knobs are kinda worn down but still got a good bit left. riding around here and anywhere near here isnt gonna be dhing so no real need for nice tires. i have a 42a mobster thats about a year and a half that was used only for racing. its still perfectly fine. seems to be crumbling a bit finally. i dont see how anyone could go through a couple tires a month.

i would like to have fresh minion 40s for every race. but i get about 2 sets a year. i try to keep them in good shape and use them when i need them. but i have been using the 60s a lot lately and i like them. now that it's getting a little wet maybe i like them less. so i bought about 4 40s, 3 60s, and probably used a couple too used ones from last year on days i knew i would eat too much rubber, since the beginning of the year.

I feel like such a poser having worn out tires...

How much of a difference does it make??
it makes a huge difference!

i last about 20-30 days of riding per tire. i killed one slow reezay minion in the rear over this summer, but the michie up front and the front minion rotated to the rear are still holding up strong. (mainly because i don't ride :D )

usually change 1 front a month, and 3 rears if its a busy racing month. 40a stuff.

comdey option: if you think i am slow now, you should see how slow i am when i have worn out tires.

this summer for during the month i was on the road to whistler, idaho, aspen and durango i went throught 6 tires on my DH bike and 3 tires on the slalom bike...granted..i had new tires at my disposal so i could have run them harder but new tires are cool rite?

probably 4 tires a month at a normal pace of one race every other weekend and general full saturday of trail riding in between.

I kinda sense the disparity between the racing crowd and the general riding crowd in terms of tire usage and frequency of tire change (based on compound).
I go about a tire a month with heavy use (I tend to switch the front to rear and put the new one on the front as I rely a lot on the fire tire for cornering). Although, lately I have been running 2.5 f and 2.3 rear and I tend to replace the 2.3 rear about twice a month (or before the sidewall goes, whichever one comes first). I don't like running really soft compound. I'm too cheap.

Anyways, thanks y'all for the consensus and feedback.
