I think you are making some pretty uninformed assumptions here.

For one, this is not a press release regarding RB's agreements with the UCI that have been alluded too (and not made public yet).
This is simply a communication from RB and NBC that they have an agreement to showcase a handful of Red Bull event properties, one of which is Rampage.
This is not even scratching the surface of the media reach RB has to showcase other sports, athletes, etc. It is simply another piece of the ever growing equation.
Red Bull Media has aligned themselves with a mainstream media partner this is the only thing this press release is about....Be glad MTB is part of it.
don't confuse this and investing in the UCI WC series as a partner to broadcast their event live and on line. The two could not be more unrelated.
this is simply an FYI saying "hey look what else that company supporting the world cup is doing"
