My DHX seems to make a clunking noise on bigger drops and repeated bumps, any ideas on what this might be and is it a bad thing that it's doing this ? Thanks
Make sure it's the shock making the noises and not the frame (i.e. make sure everything is tight, no play in the bearings or linkages, shock bushings are still tight, etc).
Also, make sure the preload collar is tight against the spring and isn't loose. Even if it appears to be, tighten it down a little bit more and try to duplicate the clunking.
If all of that stuff checks out and you're still hearing clunking, it's probably time to send it to Fox for a service.
Might have one of the first run of DHX's, which are known to clunk. This happened to Castle, who ordered a vpfree with dhx option a few months ago, he said his clunked right out of the box.
I got one on my 05 bullit frame and it's fine, but I just ordered my frame a few weeks ago.

I agree, the first few batches of DHX's had a clunk problem that was resolved for the later batches. I think that if it was made in 2004 it probably has a clunk problem. I got mine from the batch that was finished February 2005 and it's had no problems at all. You can send it back to fox and they'll fix it for you for free, they've been good to the others I've talked to in your situation.
