Diablo Freeride Park to Debut IndyCross Concept

On September 20th, Diablo Freeride Park will unveil a new single-slalom, trail concept called IndyCross. The unique IndyCross course features a tight array of banked turns twisting and descending down Diablo Freeride Park’s lower mountain. IndyCross is a custom, machine-built trail as well as a new event discipline scheduled to make its formal competition debut at the 2009 U.S. Open of Mountain Biking.

The innovative IndyCross course is a single-slalom masterpiece designed to add a unique trail and racing experience to Diablo Freeride Park’s already extensive trail network. In addition to nearly 20 massive banked turns, IndyCross features a permanent sound-system and a Freelap Timing System installed for racers looking to monitor their training progress.

During initial trail testing sessions, amateur and pro riders alike were raving about the pure fun-factor of IndyCross and the various training benefits the course has to offer. “IndyCross is challenging and fun in a very unique way”, said U.S. national Downhill champion, Geritt Beytagh. “Setting the right line is really important and you need to be comfortable with taking tight corners at speed to achieve the fastest time.”

The 2008 season continues at Diablo and the park is open every weekend until November 2nd! On October 5th, Diablo will play host to the 2008 Domination Series Finals where over $10,000 in cash and prizes will be awarded to the east coast’s top downhill racers.
