Any pump like that is for emergency use only- meaning your out on a ride and get a flat. If you use it on a daily basis, it WILL break soon. If you use it as intended, its tough to go wrong with any of the mini-pump options out there. With pumps like that, there is little you need to know other than that the bigger the pump, the faster it will inflate your tire, but it won't be able to achieve the same psi as a smaller diameter pump and will take up more room in your pack.

That's the same pump I carry in my Blowfish. Light, and for emergencies only. For topping off a tire it works fine. It will take a sh*t load of pumps to inflate from flat to 40psi.

As a bonus, I believe the Blackburn pumps have a lifetime warranty, so if it breaks they send you a new one, or the shop would probably exchange it for one on the shelf.

Blackburn does have a lifetime warranty that I have used many times, no questions asked.

Great product support.

I have the same pump and second that it is for emergencies only.

Yep. Those are fine pumps for field use. Not for the home shop. If you can afford it, get a nice floor pump for home use.

Floor pumps can be had relatively cheaply. I have a Wrench Force pump (Trek) that has served me well but I can't help but thinking it "overestimates" pressure a bit. Inflates fast, though. Topeak is nice but I don't like the hose head on theirs as much. Park makes some nice ones too.

For $50, get yourself a Silca pump -- they will last a lifetime, and are completely rebuildable with REASONABLY priced parts. (My last pump, which cost $30, needed a new pump head which would have cost me $20. The Silca pump head -- if you ever needed to replace the whole head instead of just a washer or something -- is only $8.
