Difference between Hope Enduro and M4?

The Hope site says the caliper has been redesigned to use the mini lever, do people who have used both notice that this is an improvement in power and/or feel? Or is it just an even swap?

Is the Enduro still as good as the M4 or would I be sacrificing performance if I bought the Enduro's off a friend rather than going for the new model?

John, just my guess, but it'd be an infintessimal difference if you set both brakes up well. The mini lever isn't any better-performing, I'm sure; I just think Hope is moving towards having a single style lever on all their brakes. That said, I really like the mini lever blade (but prefer the old moto-style master cylinder on the Pro levers...)

I think the differences in the caliper are centered on making them easier to bleed; apparently, there's a cavity in the M4s that is hard to coax air from. I haven't noticed it myself.

I doubt there is any functional difference other than the lever.

I actually prefer the old lever to the mini but making two seperate levers for no reason is a bit stupid.

I slightly prefer the pro lever, it is a lot smaller (the mini lever interfears with my led lights)and you can adjust the reach without gripshift getting in the way.

Cool, I'll just get the Enduro's then.

I'm sure this is better directed towards Hope directly, but I'll throw it out anyway; are the levers actually interchangable or will there be too much/too little power due to possible cylinder diameter differences?

Mike, riding plans for this weekend?

J,

Far as I know, the levers aren't interchangable...but just give Hope a call (they suck at answering email, but it's fun to talk to them on the phone because of the cute accents. "Hope Technawlogees, Gwen speaking...) The phone # is at www.hopetech.com

As to the weekend, we may do a Noble ride on Sat or Sun, and something else Monday (presidents' day!). Got a party on Sat. afternoon/evening for the GF's b-day, though. You up for a freeride Monday somewhere? I haven't done Anderson in a while and the rain's probably making it interesting...

there are differences to the M4 caliper there are 2 small and 2 large pistoons in each caliper
in teh enduros they are all the same size
the rest is teh same as far as i know
i have noticed that when bleeding M4's they do tend to suck in air. not sure where from
i have only ever felt/seen one perfectly woking M4 that didnt feel shyte all teh others have been creaky, flexy or just crap
you CANNOT swap pro/mini/ levers between the 2 calipers
i prefer the mini lever blade but the pro lever body which is a bit of an arse really.
im just goning to stick with teh E4 for the time being
