Anybody had their camera repaired?

I have a Fuji Finepix s5000 that I always liked. One day I got drunk and dropped the camera and it stopped working after that.

I kind of feel guilty throwing it away so I thought about sending it out to get fixed. Thing is it's almost as much to fix as it is to buy one on e-bay.

I would like to get it fixed but I'm not sure where to send it.

Isn't it already dated? Stop drinking and buy a new one with the money you save. :)
It is and we bought a new Casio "slim" camera and it f'ing blows. This camera always took nice pics. Even if I pass it down to my nephew, just trying not to throw everything away.

Ha, I drove right past them 1 week ago. :)

Have you had them repair your camera?
No, but sending it as close to the source as you can often means the best possible repair.

For example, I'd send my bike frame to Santa Cruz or my camera to Nikon or my panty debuncher to Jarvis.

I understand the desire not to throw every away and I also have an S5000. I would still recommend a new camera, or a slightly newer old camera. The S5500 was a pretty big improvement over the 5000 and the last time I checked you could pick up an S5500 for approximately the same cost as the 5000 on e-bay. Or if you look at Fuji's current cameras the S6500FD and S9100 would both be much more comparable to the S5000 than the Casio, and would also both take much better pictures than the S5000. Just my thoughts.

If mine was broken and I wanted to have it repaired I'd probably send it back to Fuji.

Thats the idea. NPR has been running a program called 'consume' and it's got me thinking. I was cleaning up and came across this camera. I'm pretty good about recycling but i never dreamed of getting Electronics fixed.
OK - very green of you. :)
