Well,

Compared to my old AC2 it kicks A$$. Its really solid and feels great in the air. To be honest I really haven't ridden that many bikes of this calliper but I have to say that this bike rules. The Romic is a great shock and goes well with the Super T up front. I have taken it off some pretty sketchy drops and it has always been there when it got hairy. It pedals pretty well too, I use it for trail riding - just throw up the seat and away you go, its a great all round bike. :D

I'll throw a picture of mine in here as well. I like the way it rides. It's on par with the '01 Bullit I had. It blows away my old Brodie 8-Ball (which I'd bottom the rear suspension off of 2' drops). My only complaint would be that the bottom bracket is lower than I'm used to, so I clip the pedals now and then (nothing that can't be remedied). It's a really solid and fun bike.

I was soo close to buying one of those but I didn't have the $$:( So I went the cheaper way and bought a 03' SGS expert...not too bad of a bike.
Other than that nice ride!!;)

I saw a 4" version on the MAX in Portland the other day, very sweet looking rig. Dude said they were out of Seattle and were great to deal with. Looked like a very nice frame, kinda like a Rocky Mountain Slayer type pivot. The Preston FR!

Also, those look very nice as well.

agreed, nice bikes. the importer is in seattle, yes, but the bikes are 100% taiwan, just for the record.

To continue with that though, those frames are all, to my knowledge, designed to the specs of the guys at transition. So you're not just buying a catalog bike.

Bye the way, nice looking ride, I almost bought one of those until a sweet deal on a bullit came my way. Have fun with it :D

I just talked to Kyle Young (the owner) today and saw the new 04 frame. The chain stays are burly as all get out and the head tube has been strengthend as well, I dont think that mine will ever bust as is but the 04 modle is even stronger.

I am thinking about getting the dangerboy plates for my ride, they add a inch of travel and some rear stiffness to the bike. Plus they are just another addition to the bling of the bike as a whole being polished aluminum. :D

Are the stock plates flexy? If so, I wonder why they went with relieved plates (yours), away from solid ones (see butthead's pic)?

Also, I'd be concerned that the dangerboy plates might make for a leverage ratio that's a bit high. What's the stroke of the shock?

I just got a pair of the solid ones for free ( the relifed ones where from the earlier modles ) and the new ones are deffinatly stiffer.

The dangerboy plates do add leverage to the shock (I think it is a 2.25 stroke length) and I would have to add some more pre-load (I am running non now with a 800lb spring).

I am thinking about just running the 7inch travel setting for DH and then the 6inch setting for jumping and dropping.

Holy crap batman, #800 spring??? I run a #550 on my AS-X with 7" travel on a 2.25" stroke shock, I know the progressive shocks tend to run slightly lighter springs but I though that with the same leverage ratio the springs would at least be in the same ball park. How much do you weigh?

I was thinking the same thing. I'm 275 lbs and the bike sags perfectly with a 700 lb spring. I tried an 800, but it felt too stiff.

see, you're only about 25 lbs shy of being twice my weight, yet you use a spring that's not nearly twice as heavy. If you really need an #800 spring I'd strongly suggest not increasing the leverage ratio with dangerboy plates. Unless you're a DANGER boy.

I weigh 220lbs and 6'1" so I don't know what the deal is but feels fine to me. I run NO preload at the moment so maybe I wont have to when I get the plates... we will just have to wait and see.

Just rec'd my new 04 complete with Danger boys. I went up to a 700# spring from a 600#. Just over 200lbs and the 600 was spec on. Should have it built for the weekend.

Here's the new frame, will have an 04 Shiver DC

Nice! I also ordered the grey, it should be here by the end of the week. No dangerboy plates for me though, can't afford them yet. Soon though, I'll probably get a pair before the end of summer.

How did your Dirtbag feel with the 5" fork on it versus the 6"? I'm considering building one with a Z1 FR, to keep the head angle nice and steep, but I wonder if the 6" would be the way to go...

I dont know how long the 5 inch question has been here but here is my answer:

I had to ride with a psylo on my for a while when my Super Ts where being fixed (messed up the lowers on some concrete) and I think it rides awsome with 5" in the front. It definatly is more nimble and jumps much better as well.
