Rep. Loretta Sanchez (D-Calif.) has quit her membership in the Congressional Hispanic Caucus, citing what she calls "violations of election rules" in the selection last fall of fellow Californian Joe Baca.
"Last year, I and other members of the caucus voiced our strong opposition to Mr. Baca's chairmanship due to a violation of election rules," she said. "An official response to our inquiry is still in question."
Among ofther things, they say he is dismissive of female members and their concerns. Ms. Sanchez was among several members who last November either abstained or voted against Mr. Baca, and Ms. Sanchez has said that Mr. Baca referred to her as a "whore," an allegation he vehemently denies.
