I'm trying to take apart my cranks for cleaning and whatnot. I unscrewed the two screws on either side but it still won't come apart. Is there something else I'm supposed to do that I'm missing? I have raceface prodigy xc cranks. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

You need a crank puller
Make sure you use the type of puller spincrazy has posted....not any old crank puller works for splines bottom brackets.
I got them off by tapping them with a rubber mallet. Thanks anyways. I'm curious, how does the crank puller work?
Careful. You can gamage the splined interface or tappered interface by banging the cranks off. The reason is it might get levered off and deform the relatively soft aluminum. A crank puller screws into the crank after the bolts are removed. The inside of the puller is threaded. When you then crank on the end the bolt will push on the end of the bb spindle and force the crank off in a straight line. Get a puller. A splined puller is a little different than square. Ask at the shop. They'll show you the difference.
