i bought formula activa disc brakes for $25 each (i know i should have spent more and gotten avids) and the stopping power is only slightly better than v-brakes. i think if i buy new disc brakes i have to buy a new wheelset because i stripped 1 or 2 rotor bolts on each wheel by using an allen wrench(i thought it was the right tool at the time). any way the question: how can i improve the performance of these brakes?

I'm not familiar with these particular brakes, but you should start by making sure that your pads and rotor are clean. Rubbing alcohol and a clean rag (not your greasy shop rag!) will do the trick.

also the fasteners may be "Torx" at leat I think thats how it is spelled. any how they look like allen heads but their not ask you wrench weather they are or not, hardware stroes or maby even you shop will sell you a torx wrench.

I had formula MD-1 thos thinks where garbage. if ya can only afford cable I suggest hayes, avid or deore. but avaoid useing a hayes cable disc lever

you can still get the stripped bolt out. just get a saw or dremel tool or something and cut a line into the face of it and make it just like a flathead screw. then get it out with a screwdriver.
