Anyone here have any experience with the Aztec disk pad relacements? I need to hook up my Avids, and was thinking of these, but I've never used their products before. I'm wondering about the pros and cons vs the stock pads...for any make disk. Thanks.

though last i knew, they didn't make them for avid disc, they make them for about everything else: EBC. my new best friends.
i just moved to red (dh) pads from ebc on my xt disc... what a difference! holy smokes, i can roll a nose wheelie for twice as long, just like that. I'm sure it's going to wear out in no time (bed in time was nil... usually a sign they're really soft..) so i've got second and third pairs comming already as backups. they make harder compounds, but wow... whew. i'm done.

I'm using Kool Stop pads on my Hayes and they do real good. No noise like the stock pads. Kool Stop makes em for most brakes and since they come from just about any distributor your local bike shop can get em with no problems. They are a little cheaper in cost than most pads.
I tried the Aztecs and had squel problems and couldn't get the front to grab well enough for nose wheelies.

i just tried some aztecs on my hayes hydraulics & was NOT impressed. i rode them for about a week, they seemed to fade pretty fast as they heated up & they had a real funky smell (not bad, just different from hayes). anyways, i went back to the shop i bought them at and talked to a different mechanic than the original guy who recommended them and he was like "you don't want tose dude, we aren't selling them anymore, give them back" so i traded them in for EBC's which so far work much more like the hayes, i like my bike shop :D

Either I'm not paying attention enough or they are all pretty close in performance. I run Hayes pads sometimes, EBC green pads sometimes, EBC non-green pads sometimes, pretty much whatever I see on the shelf. They all seem to work fine and I never really paid attention to which ones last longer, etc.

When I had Avid discs, I wasn't aware that other companies made pads for them so I only used Avid pads. Which worked fine, except nobody stocked them (one reason I switched to Hayes).
