Ok...so I sold my commencal, I did go to Bradley bike park yesterday and rode a few bikes and my nomad..

Yes nomad was way wrong bike but was fun...rode a trid ZZ love the dual shock but found my weight shift too far forward with ape index +3 and havingass up top.

Rode a transition long felt better still a little too small..

Would like something
470-480 reach
65 ha (or close)
27.5 wheel size
Shorter chainstay
Ultimate would be rear shock like trek or trid zz..

Tris zz would have been good if I didn't feel like I was on a BMX bike..the circus called and said they wanted me to do the bear on a tricycle act. It was uncomfortable...

Something that makes a better crossover from DH and longer bikes that allows a slightly bigger pocket for balance...

Thats a bloody long reach for a DJ haha.

You'd almost be better off getting a short travel bike like a Raaw Jib (29 but could just run 27.5 for DJ bike) or one of those Marin Rift Zone 27.5 XRs and running them mega firm.

WTF? Does "DJ" stand for something completely different these days?
Because NONE of those numbers make ANY sense to me for Dirt Jumping.

If it helps any. I have a few short 26" bikes and my ex always used to call me a bear on a bike when I rode them with her.

Just find a 26" wheel frame with around 420mm reach, nice short stays and a 69deg HA. And sort out its fit with bar height.
A massive dirt jumper just doesn't work.

If you do decide to go a 26" HT option
Cannondale Dave is 436mm
Transition PBJ XL is 465mm reach
Chromag Monk XL is 460mm

Generally for DJ if you're tall you wanna maybe get higher rise bars rather than longer and longer frames hey.

Checking to see when a PBJ frame xl will be in stock, buckow had me contact a buddy of his on a custom set up...
The PBJ has my Interest more than others but not being a dirt jumper what's recommended for more cockpit room??

Bars, rise etc..tips tricks to give me a smidge more room

Go nuts with bar rise I reckon. Dunno how tall you are but an XL PBJ and some 50mm bars would be the start I'd say. I think some brands go really nuts with bar height options if 50 isn't enough.

I'm 6ft tall (1.83 meters for those who understand logical units), and my custom made dirt jumper has a 69° head angle, 430ish mm reach, 390 mm stays, and a 90mm riser chromoly bar:

Bar rise is the proper way to get more room in dirt jumpers, as other monkeys said.

Also, the idea behind a dirt jumping bike is to be as small and maneuvereable as possible. Jumping a baksfiets might do for a funny Voreis video, but IRL it sucks ass.

@slimshady I'm 182 and my dartmoor 4X is 415mm reach. (400mm stays). Now I'm older and have no real (steep) dirt jumps anywhere local I use it as more of an all rounder/pumptrack/piss about bike than a Dirt jumper. For actual dirt jumping I'd definitely prefer to be on something with at least 20mm less reach. I rode regular Giant STPs for years and loved their geometry. This was pre "reach" measurements in geometry charts but I've just googled it and it turns out my regular old STP frames reach were 375mm.
Giant also made them in a size L that was 20mm longer. I built one of those alongside my regular at the time to see if I liked the extra room. I really didn't.
Out of nostalgia I still have one regular STP frame gathering dust I'll probably never build.

The industry trend for ALL bikes increasing in length is stupid. Most genuine dirt jump companies. Much like BMX know this and haven't followed the trend. Many now do offer two sizes but anyone our sorta height and under is generally better off on the smaller of the two with suitable bar height.

I should also mention about wheelsize if you plan on chucking 360s
On a 20" I used to bunnyhop 3 easily while a 24" i had to send to the moon to because they are so slow to rotate in comparison that I never even tried on a 26".

I'm 5'8" and have a Commencal Absolut in size med, I think it's like 410mm reach, that I just ride infrequently at the pump track. I normally ride bikes with 450-455 reach. At the time I was tempted to size up, later I rode the exact same bike in large and it felt like a boat. Much harder to time pumptrack rollers etc. Stick with the size chart and throw on some high rise bars instead. I've got some Renthal 40mm and an I9 stem (+5mm) on mine.

I've got that airbag here and a 7' ramp,

I did try to throw weight back and that vertigo almost made me throw up .that's another bonus from brain injury...lmao..

The PBJ xl seems to be the focus or top spot.

If you have smacked your dome Theres a good chance you compromised balance. (I got the add on, short term memory loss lol that pissed the wife off and was fun)

Flips I could do one after another on tramp and ground...after head injury id fall standing up from the toilet or putting shoes on...it just supercharged the vertigo...

I ride an XL pbj and I am 6’3”. I considered going a size down. DJ bike IMO should be as small as you can physically tolerate.

DJ bikes and bmx bikes always feel squirrely and too small when coming from modern enduro, trail or DH bikes. Deal with it for a ride or two; after that you won’t even notice it.

The one thing I did to compensate for my height and age was run 80 mm bars and ~1” of spacers under the stem. Helps my back and shoulders.

Had a serious dome smacking at Schladming 4 years ago, 10 min black out, vertigo got definitely a ramp up afterwards. Started my head banging career back in 1983 at the age of 3. Next hit 1985, next after that 1990. No classic ballroom dancing since then.

Ear issues can also cause this stuff. If you overproduce wax and/or are prone to ear infection
Yeah, had an episode of benign paroxysmal positional vertigo in 2018 after a foot first slam to my left jaw from a stage diver at a Terror concert :rockout::banghead: took a series of repositioning maneuvers to get rid of it. My felt horizontal plane was t(r)ipping over and over again after I moved my head - funny but not funny :bad:
After that relatively calm sensations until Schladders 2020, see above. No repositioning whatsoever seems to hlep this time. And then I was diagnosed with MS last summer... luckily no lesions in my brain so far and thanks to my head hitting adventurers in 2018 and 2020 I had a good comparison base of MRI pics.

Yeah between cage and ring fighting street fights pipes to head MX and dh and going through the windshield of a drunk driver on my bike ar 12 he was doing 70...

NEVER BEEN KNOCKED OUT!!! Straight bullet proof..(small brain lol)

8 concussions, cracked skull 3 times..

I wish ear wax was an issue, I tried that head back balance the ear hairs etc.. I just have to wait it out.

Sorry to hear about the MS....we all have a begining and and an end and we don't know when that is so no regrets...
I'll hold your beer if you want to say "watch this!" I got your back....

Do you get those days where you can't stand, or if you turn or lean you just keep going down?

Maybe 2 times a year or so I get those, I function through them. Kind of exciting and a challenge like a roller coaster ride for free...
Sometimes a week others 2 weeks ...

Shitty part is I can ride like a SOB when I'm having it..doesn't slow me down at all. But walking, getting out of bed, leaning to get in car lol..I look drunk..

These kind of symptoms I only had with the tiny crystals floating around in my ear aka the benign paroxysmal positional vertigo. The mentioned repositioning maneuvers got me rid of them, thankfully. That's a really weird feeling. Can't imagine having em on a regular basis
