I'm gonna play it out here. Why not just get an xc frame (on sale, so hopefully super cheap) and customize it?

Like, what did we do before the DJ frame was invented? Uh huh. :D

Lol..
I rode tiny little Alloy kinesis XC frames before DJ bikes were a thing. Think I was paying £60 for them. (direct from factory). It was back in the 90s tho.

Nostalgia... isn't what it used to be

The last thing the shaved gorilla needs is an xc frame.

Putting high rise bars on tiny GT Zaskar frames for dual slalom and whatnot was pretty common here.

A zaskar with a chain device, shorty stem and high risers was a proper do it all bike. See also JMC’s specialized M4. But let’s not pretend they were as good as the crop of dj specific bikes that came after and are now available relatively cheap.

I'm 6'2" and would not go back to a shorter frame than my XL Monk. I also wouldn't want the long chainstays that come with the XL PBJ. I tend to spend more time riding the Monk than any of my other bikes, fwiw. Following my son through Crown Mtn dj's
Yeah just need a jump frame that I can pump track and dj...literally just throw in truck take to Bradley Park and goof off...hell I wouldn't even Dbol it to the mailbox ..

Kids pretty good , way to go..got some swag air style

This guy lives riding distance to a bike park he helped to make. He may have extra street cred here. :D

In other news:

I love my Santa Cruz Chameleon set up 27.5 and/or 29, Fox 160mm 36. It really does everything.

You (whomever might reading this. All 12 of us ;)

1) can keep the steerer long.
2) have a stem/handlebar for whatever terrain you're going to handle. So for example I have 2 stem/handlebar combos that I can quickly swap out. Depending. I do have to plan in advance. But if I have it in XC mode and I do DJ's. it's not a big deal. I'll usually just raise the stem, if it really bothers me. I do prefer my DJ bars/stem. But it's just nice to get out there. Hopefully not crash. :D

But if you want a real dedicated dirt jumper? Go bmx 24" cruiser? (I see a metric ton of these at the local bike park. And these guys can ride) Super simple and cheap, if you don't go racer mode. A single speed modified XC might just do the same thing for a Shaved Gorilla :)

Seems Revel have a 27.5" wheel DJ bike but it has a 120mm fork and 417mm reach.
Oh, and it's a Titanium frame.

That frame but not that price... definitely like the layout a bit short but clean
