Al-Qaida No. 2 Calls Bush Failure, Liar
Sep 29 4:08 PM US/Eastern
By BASSEM MROUEAssociated Press Writer
CAIRO, Egypt

Al-Qaida No. 2 Ayman al-Zawahri condemned President Bush in a video statement released Friday, calling him a failure and a liar. "Why don't you tell them how many million citizens of America and its allies you intend to kill in search of the imaginary victory and in breathless pursuit of the mirage towards which you are driving your people's sons in order increase your profits?" al-Zawahri said in a portion of the video released by the Virginia-based IntelCenter.

It said the message was titled "Bush, the Pope, Darfur and the Crusades."

The video was the latest to come from al-Zawahri since earlier this month. Al-Qaida released a string of videos for the anniversary of Sept. 11, showing increasingly sophisticated production techniques in a likely effort to demonstrate that it remains a powerful, confident force despite the U.S.-led war on terror.

An intelligence official, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said U.S. experts view the tape as a typcial propaganda message, whose main thrust is a call for more people to join the jihad.

It wasn't immediately clear when the message was recorded, but al- Zawahri made a reference to the pope, indicating the message was produced sometime after Pope Benedict XVI's controversial comments about Islam on Sept. 12, the official said.

bush's failed policies are in effect in the bay area too, it seems:

Squirrels Go On Attack At South Bay Park

"The squirrels will be back," South Bay wildlife rehabilitator Norma Campbell said. "For every one you take out, two more will come in. It could be a never-ending project that isn't going to accomplish anything."

A confident force with no control at all.

You DO realize that Al-Qaeda really doesn't have much control over anything, right? The US has turned Al-Qaeda into a rallying symbol and bin Laden and his whatevers into figureheads for both Westerners and Muslims.

The "terrorists" are a very large rabble of pissed off Arabs and assorted others. This is why you will never "defeat" them. It's not an organization these people belong to, it's a mindset you've successfully implanted into a population.

You can't kill ideas, dumbfvck.

you know, if you just take that quote and show it to someone without telling them who said it, they might not necessarily think a "terrorist" said it. and is it wierd that i kind of agree with just this quote?

so, we taught them to indoctrinate their children the jews came from apes & pigs?
how did we brainwash them into the whole "die killing an infidel & git yor virjunz"
how did we manage to create muslimania over a few bleedin' cartoons, which were published in pussified europe?
how do we publish talking points to the radical imams during friday prayers?

don't answer these questions, just understand i'm not so much into self-loathing & navel-gazing.

You have a special ability to look directly at the problem of squashed produce, and not see the elephant in your fridge.

Hmm,

Good points:

  • That 7/7 dude was just a UK-born, well to do psycho dickhead, and all those who supported or tollerated him should be jailed for life.
Failures:

  • Equivalence of his situation with that of an Iraqi or Palestinian.
  • Near complete failure to address the long term mis-treatment, murder and oppresion of Palestinians and Arabs by the west, specifically Israel.
  • The misrepresentation of the facts and history behind the recent Israel/Lebanon thing was pretty sick making too.
  • The whole meme that somehow 'terrorism' is worse than western warfare methods for the people it affects is just deluded.

Basically the documentary makers are right - terrorism is unacceptable, morally wrong and should be brought under control.

However, so is the west's beahviour, especially now and with notable frequency since WW2.

If our own house was in order, I would support the points of view presented in the doco completely. But it's not. I wish it was.

Silly monkey, it's not terrorism when it's a guy who we support doing it.

See: The Mujahedeen (I have to give Reagan a pass on this one...I would have supported that as well. I like to think that I would have been a little more careful about arming the religious nuts though, but we all know my attitude toward religion) Saddam Hussein circa the Iran/Iraq war (no need to post that photo of Rumsfeld shaking his hand, is there?) Chile under Pinochet, the Contras in Nicaragua, Vietnam, and if you prefer a modern day example, we can always look at the royal screwing we're giving Colombian farmers simply because we need to keep coke prices up.

I'm sure there are more examples...

Now, does that make the Islamist cause the correct one? Certainly not. At that same time, that doesn't mean the Palestinians aren't getting screwed over. The inabilty of the general American public to see that things aren't always black and white is not an admirable trait.

What do I care though? I travel on a Canadian passport...

Stephen Fry:

"I can't pretend to be much of a judge of literature. I'm an English teacher, not a homosexual." :p Genius.
