stay far away from DNM forks...for 250 you can get a much better used fork that you will be able to get parts and service for in a timely manner....D

While the MTBR reviews are good, I wouldn't go for one unless you desperately wanted a DC fork. MCUs in a DH fork? No US distributor? It'll be impossible to get parts for it, who cares if it works well or not...

For 250 I would get a used boxxer. If you must buy new check out the new manitou stance kingpin, its 400-some I believe but should be well worth another 200 bucks.

I have no idea about the fork, but can tell you that a crappy fork will be crappy whether it is inverted or not. You can prolly find a shiver for $400, I would think.

It seems like you've already made up your mind.

But I agree with everyone here, that you can find something better...

If it's looks you're after, then by all means get what you feel looks good.

I remember in the 6th grade, I really wanted a Hypercolor t-shirt. All the kids had them. My mom thought they were a joke. But she got me one, and boy howdy. I looked stupid in it. The thing stopped changing color after the first wash. But that was not before it leaked dye onto my skin and other clothes.

Moral of the story, damn those Hypercolor shirts looked cool, but in reality they sucked.

That story sort of relates to your fork question...

let's get this straight. you're short on cash and your jr t works "awsom" so you're going to spend your cash on a fork that is worse than the one you already have.

a fool and his money...

I have spent one season on this fork, and for the price it`s an OK fork.
I have compared this fork to the jr.T and the DNM actually feels a bit nicer.
But there is always a but.... when you break something on this fork you are basically(sp?) f**ked. Replacement parts are almost impossible to get, and they are expensive.
If i where you i would save my money and by a used shiver. The marginal performance improvement from the jr.T is just not worth the buck.

Thanks for an actual response Freddy. I am sure the failure will appreciate it. We all buy things we wish we hadn't bought. I agree that waiting on a Shiver would be a better idea, but I also know how the want factor works. I hope the dude can get what he wants soon.

I fell into the "looks cool, buy it trap!" back in my days before I knew what was decent stuff. I had 150 bucks to spend on wheels for an fairly light xc bike, and I'd pretty much decided on some XT hubs laced to 517s. Well I lo and behold, I'm perusing ebay, and what do I see? A Vuelta XRP wheelset with deep rims and a paired spoke lacing pattern (24 hole). Being the fashion whore I was/am, I immediately bought them, paying no attention to reviews or the weight. They sucked. Better, they worse than sucked. They weighed as much as a pair of Rhynolite XLs, and the bladed spokes were damned near impossible to get as I started to break them in the rear. I eventually exploded the rear one with a sledgehammer after a crash rendered the rim demolished. Turns out they come OEM on some Euro bikes.

Lessons learned:

-Never buy crap on looks alone. Do your homework.

-Never buy crap that only comes OEM on European bikes. The end.
