Sidney Sheldon's latest, to me, The Tides of Memory. Oh, the twists I missed in his books......
Jumping jesus christ was this book horrifying. I can't believe we haven't glassed ourselves yet.
Dude you're on fire....Went on a bender at the used book store:
Guess I won't be bored at work for a while.
*cough*bit torrent*cough*Bought the 10Yr old a Kindle Fire with her own money. The Kindle Kids Unlimited turns out is pretty useless because it's for 8 and under.
Anyone have tips or tricks to building her a collection of good books that are somehow free or near free? This thing doesn't come with a really easy to use starter program and there don't seem to be any good websites dedicated to using it on the cheap.
Check out your local library. Most of them have systems where you can check out ebooks online. You might get on a waiting list for really popular books, but they e-mail you when it's available and then you'll have a couple of days to download it. The loans expire in ±3 weeks, but it's a convenient way to read books for free.Bought the 10Yr old a Kindle Fire with her own money. I read down the page into that but it went into a multi-paragraph thing about having to pay per megabite downloaded? I can't do the math on MB downloaded and how much that is per book, so stopped reading.might be a bit advanced, but there are a lot of classics available for free from Amazon. Like Call of the Wild, Count of Monte Cristo, The Time Machine, Around the World in 80 Days, Journey to the Center of the Earth, etc...
This. Her school library may have ebooks too...mine does. I haven't had to pay for a book in a while.Check out your local library. Most of them have systems where you can check out ebooks online. I believe I've recommended this book before. Until mankind crash lands on the moon, or mars, cobbles his sh/t back together, and returns to earth, there will never be a more amazing survival story.Endurance: Shackletons incredible voyage.
A litle slow to start, and has stayed that way. Must be something about being marooned in ice...
I loved the Hobbit/Lord of the Rings, but didn't really love the Silmarillion. I tried re-reading it the summer before last and still didn't love it.Jumping jesus christ was this book horrifying. I can't believe we haven't glassed ourselves yet.
Started this yesterday:
I've read the Hobbit/Lord of the Rings probably half a dozen times but never picked up the Silmarillion or Children of Hurin before.
I have to admit that I did not finish reading it.I loved the Hobbit/Lord of the Rings, but didn't really love the Silmarillion. I tried re-reading it the summer before last and still didn't love it.
